Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, by having served and by still serving the saints.And we desire that each one of you demonstrate the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end,

This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was accurately speaking and teaching things about Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John;

‘ I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

The soul of the lazy one craves and gets nothing, But the soul of the diligent is made prosperous.

The one who steals must no longer steal; but rather he must labor, producing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with the one who has need.

Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother or sister who leads a disorderly life and not one in accordance with the tradition which you received from us.For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined way among you,nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we kept working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you;not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a role model for you, so that you would follow our example.For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.Now we command and exhort such persons in the Lord Jesus Christ to work peacefully and eat their own bread.

Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure people.

Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy one to those who send him.

And because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will become cold.

But he said,“ You are lazy, very lazy; for that reason you say,‘ Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.’

Since you have purified your souls in obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brothers and sisters, fervently love one another from the heart,

Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ;not by way of eye service, as people pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.With goodwill render service, as to the Lord, and not to people,knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive this back from the Lord, whether slave or free.

A lazy one says,“ There is a lion on the road! A lion is in the public square!”As the door turns on its hinges, So does a lazy one on his bed.A lazy one buries his hand in the dish; He is weary of bringing it to his mouth again.A lazy one is wiser in his own eyes Than seven people who can give a discreet answer.

Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;

You yourselves know that these hands served my own needs and the men who were with me.In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we instructed you,so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need.

serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and trials which came upon me through the plots of the Jews;

At the same time they also learn to be idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also they become gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper to mention.

Slaves, obey those who are your human masters in everything, not with eye service, as people pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people,knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

I passed by the field of a lazy one, And by the vineyard of a person lacking sense,And behold, it was completely overgrown with weeds; Its surface was covered with weeds, And its stone wall was broken down.When I saw, I reflected upon it; I looked, and received instruction.“ A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest,”Then your poverty will come like a drifter, And your need like an armed man.

Masters, grant your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

Go to the ant, you lazy one, Observe its ways and be wise,Which, having no chief, Officer, or ruler,Prepares its food in the summer And gathers its provision in the harvest.How long will you lie down, you lazy one? When will you arise from your sleep?

His watchmen are blind, All of them know nothing. All of them are mute dogs unable to bark, Dreamers lying down, who love to slumber;

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.

Urge slaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be pleasing, not argumentative,not stealing, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.

“ But his master answered and said to him,‘ You worthless, lazy slave! Did you know that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter seed?

But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

He also who is lax in his work Is a brother to him who destroys.

Epaphras, who is one of your own, a bond servant of Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings, always striving earnestly for you in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.For I testify for him that he has a deep concern for you and for those who are in Laodicea and Hierapolis.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave, is the Lord’s freed person; likewise the one who was called as free, is Christ’s slave.
