I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot.So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth.

Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins.

The slacker craves, yet has nothing, but the diligent is fully satisfied.

Let the thief no longer steal. Instead, he is to do honest work with his own hands, so that he has something to share with anyone in need.

Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from every brother or sister who is idle and does not live according to the tradition received from us.For you yourselves know how you should imitate us: We were not idle among you;we did not eat anyone’s food free of charge; instead, we labored and toiled, working night and day, so that we would not be a burden to any of you.It is not that we don’t have the right to support, but we did it to make ourselves an example to you so that you would imitate us.In fact, when we were with you, this is what we commanded you:“ If anyone isn’t willing to work, he should not eat.”For we hear that there are some among you who are idle. They are not busy but busybodies.Now we command and exhort such people by the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and provide for themselves.

Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will stand in the presence of kings. He will not stand in the presence of the unknown.

Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so the slacker is to the one who sends him on an errand.

Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold.

But he said,“ You are slackers. Slackers! That is why you are saying,‘ Let us go sacrifice to the LORD.’

Since you have purified yourselves by your obedience to the truth, so that you show sincere brotherly love for each other, from a pure heart love one another constantly,

Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as you would Christ.Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart.Serve with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to people,knowing that whatever good each one does, slave or free, he will receive this back from the Lord.

The slacker says,“ There’s a lion in the road— a lion in the public square!”A door turns on its hinges, and a slacker, on his bed.The slacker buries his hand in the bowl; he is too weary to bring it to his mouth!In his own eyes, a slacker is wiser than seven who can answer sensibly.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful. By it, we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,

You yourselves know that I worked with my own hands to support myself and those who are with me.In every way I’ve shown you that it is necessary to help the weak by laboring like this and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, because he said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

to seek to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,so that you may behave properly in the presence of outsiders and not be dependent on anyone.

serving the Lord with all humility, with tears, and during the trials that came to me through the plots of the Jews.

At the same time, they also learn to be idle, going from house to house; they are not only idle, but are also gossips and busybodies, saying things they shouldn’t say.

Slaves, obey your human masters in everything. Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but work wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord.Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people,knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.

I went by the field of a slacker and by the vineyard of one lacking sense.Thistles had come up everywhere, weeds covered the ground, and the stone wall was ruined.I saw, and took it to heart; I looked, and received instruction:a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the arms to rest,and your poverty will come like a robber, and your need, like a bandit.

Masters, deal with your slaves justly and fairly, since you know that you too have a Master in heaven.

Go to the ant, you slacker! Observe its ways and become wise.Without leader, administrator, or ruler,it prepares its provisions in summer; it gathers its food during harvest.How long will you stay in bed, you slacker? When will you get up from your sleep?

Israel’s watchmen are blind, all of them, they know nothing; all of them are mute dogs, they cannot bark; they dream, lie down, and love to sleep.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.

Slaves are to submit to their masters in everything, and to be well-pleasing, not talking backor stealing, but demonstrating utter faithfulness, so that they may adorn the teaching of God our Savior in everything.

“ His master replied to him,‘ You evil, lazy servant! If you knew that I reap where I haven’t sown and gather where I haven’t scattered,

But I have this against you: You have abandoned the love you had at first.

The one who is lazy in his work is brother to a vandal.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. He is always wrestling for you in his prayers, so that you can stand mature and fully assured in everything God wills.For I testify about him that he works hard for you, for those in Laodicea, and for those in Hierapolis.

Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength, because there is no work, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

For he who is called by the Lord as a slave is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise he who is called as a free man is Christ’s slave.
