所以怎麼樣呢？以色列人並沒有獲得他們所尋求的，蒙揀選的人卻獲得了，而其餘的人都成了剛硬的，

然則何耶、以色列所求未得、惟蒙選者得之、餘則頑耳、

曰、然則以色列人所求者、有不得乎、曰、選民得之、其餘則頑也、

是則何也、以色列人所求者未得、惟蒙選者得之、其餘則剛愎其心矣、

然則如何？曰：義塞之所求、未之得也、其中蒙恩者得之、而其餘則已成麻木不仁之徒矣。

What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened,

What should we say then? The people of Israel did not receive what they wanted so badly. Those Israelites who were chosen did receive it. But the rest of the people were made stubborn.

What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened,

So this is the situation: Most of the people of Israel have not found the favor of God they are looking for so earnestly. A few have— the ones God has chosen— but the hearts of the rest were hardened.

What then? Israel did not find what it was looking for, but the elect did find it. The rest were hardened,

What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened;

What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

What then? That which Israel seeketh for, that he obtained not; but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened:

What then? Israel did not find what it was looking for, but the elect did find it. The rest were hardened,

What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded

What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was diligently seeking, but the elect obtained it. The rest were hardened,

What then? That which Israel seeks for, that he didn’t obtain, but the chosen ones obtained it, and the rest were hardened.

Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden. (niv)

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (niv)

I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, (niv)

but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal.Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone. (niv)

and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lieand so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. (niv)

So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. (niv)

But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. (niv)

Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? (niv)

What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. (niv)

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love (niv)

In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:“‘ You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’ (niv)

Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. (niv)

Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” (niv)

What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory— (niv)

“ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn— and I would heal them.” (niv)

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! (niv)

But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, (niv)

They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see, and their minds closed so they cannot understand. (niv)

“ Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. (niv)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. (niv)

“ Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me, (niv)

Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done. (niv)

who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance. (niv)
