And if it is by grace, it is no longer by works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

雖然、既曰蒙恩、則不復憑業；不然、恩將失其所以為恩矣。

And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

And if they are chosen by grace, then they can’t work for it. If that were true, grace wouldn’t be grace anymore.

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is— free and undeserved.

Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.

And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

He is the one who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not based on our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

he saved us not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,

You who are trying to be declared righteous by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace!

Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited due to grace but due to obligation.But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been in vain. In fact, I worked harder than all of them– yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

I do not set aside God’s grace, because if righteousness could come through the law, then Christ died for nothing!

Do not think to yourself after the LORD your God has driven them out before you,“ Because of my own righteousness the LORD has brought me here to possess this land.” It is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out ahead of you.It is not because of your righteousness, or even your inner uprightness, that you have come here to possess their land. Instead, because of the wickedness of these nations the LORD your God is driving them out ahead of you in order to confirm the promise he made on oath to your ancestors, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.Understand, therefore, that it is not because of your righteousness that the LORD your God is about to give you this good land as a possession, for you are a stubborn people!

Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded! By what principle? Of works? No, but by the principle of faith!For we consider that a person is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law.

Now the law came in so that the transgression may increase, but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more,so that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ– by grace you are saved!–and he raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,to demonstrate in the coming ages the surpassing wealth of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;it is not from works, so that no one can boast.
