And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

And if they are chosen by grace, then they can’t work for it. If that were true, grace wouldn’t be grace anymore.

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is— free and undeserved.

Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.

who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,

not by works done in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

Ye are severed from Christ, ye who would be justified by the law; ye are fallen away from grace.

Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith.We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly:that, as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

but God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ( by grace have ye been saved),and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus:that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus:for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;not of works, that no man should glory.
