See then the goodness and severity of God. Toward those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness; otherwise you also will be cut off.

試觀天主之慈與嚴、於彼傾仆者則嚴、於爾則慈、惟爾賴其慈、否則爾亦必見折、

不見天主之慈而且嚴、寬猛相濟乎？其於隕越者、亦云嚴矣；而於爾曹、亦云慈矣。

Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.

Think about how kind God is! Also think about how firm he is! He was hard on those who stopped following him. But he is kind to you. So you must continue to live in his kindness. If you don’t, you also will be cut off.

Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.

Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in his kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off.

Therefore, consider God’s kindness and severity: severity toward those who have fallen but God’s kindness toward you— if you remain in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.

See then the kindness and severity of God: to those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; for otherwise you too will be cut off.

Therefore, consider God’s kindness and severity: severity toward those who have fallen but God’s kindness toward you— if you remain in His kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.

Notice therefore the kindness and harshness of God– harshness toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness toward you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off.

For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence firm to the end,

Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

but Christ is faithful as a Son over his house. We are his house, if we hold fast our confidence and the glorying of our hope firm to the end.

by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you— unless you believed in vain.

let’s hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.

Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.

Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him,“ If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.

Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.“ In a very little while, he who comes will come, and will not wait.But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.

For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.

Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I am coming to you swiftly, and will move your lamp stand out of its place, unless you repent.

Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God;

but overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea; for his loving kindness endures forever:to him who led his people through the wilderness; for his loving kindness endures forever:to him who struck great kings; for his loving kindness endures forever;and killed mighty kings; for his loving kindness endures forever:Sihon king of the Amorites; for his loving kindness endures forever;Og king of Bashan; for his loving kindness endures forever;and gave their land as an inheritance; for his loving kindness endures forever;even a heritage to Israel his servant; for his loving kindness endures forever:

strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into God’s Kingdom.

who, when he had come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad. He exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they should remain near to the Lord.

It shall happen that as all the good things have come on you of which Yahweh your God spoke to you, so Yahweh will bring on you all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you,when you disobey the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow down yourselves to them. Then Yahweh’s anger will be kindled against you, and you will perish quickly from off the good land which he has given to you.”

Those in the good ground, these are those who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance.

The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked,so that men shall say,“ Most certainly there is a reward for the righteous. Most certainly there is a God who judges the earth.”

“ See now that I myself am he. There is no god with me. I kill and I make alive. I wound and I heal. There is no one who can deliver out of my hand.For I lift up my hand to heaven and declare, as I live forever,if I sharpen my glittering sword, my hand grasps it in judgment; I will take vengeance on my adversaries, and will repay those who hate me.I will make my arrows drunk with blood. My sword shall devour flesh with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the head of the leaders of the enemy.”Rejoice, you nations, with his people, for he will avenge the blood of his servants. He will take vengeance on his adversaries, and will make atonement for his land and for his people.

Don’t think to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.“ Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.

“ But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, should he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die.

But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.Keep yourselves in God’s love, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

“‘ Yet the children of your people say,“ The way of the Lord is not fair;” but as for them, their way is not fair.When the righteous turns from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, he will even die therein.When the wicked turns from his wickedness, and does that which is lawful and right, he will live by it.

You will see it, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones will flourish like the tender grass. Yahweh’s hand will be known among his servants; and he will have indignation against his enemies.

He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, indignation, and trouble, and a band of angels of evil.He made a path for his anger. He didn’t spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence,and struck all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.But he led out his own people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.

What if God, willing to show his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory,

to those who by perseverance in well- doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;

Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.“ In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love.If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.

‘ Yahweh is slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and disobedience; and he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation.’Please pardon the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your loving kindness, and just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.”Yahweh said,“ I have pardoned according to your word;but in very deed— as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with Yahweh’s glory—because all those men who have seen my glory, and my signs, which I worked in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;

For this cause I also, when I couldn’t stand it any longer, sent that I might know your faith, for fear that by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor would have been in vain.

“ Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he will die. Because you have not given him warning, he will die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered; but I will require his blood at your hand.
