For if God did not spare the original branches, he won’t spare you either.

神既不爱惜原来的枝子，也必不爱惜你。

上帝既然不顾惜原来的枝子，岂会顾惜你？

神既然不顾惜原来的枝子，岂会顾惜你？

上帝既然没有留下原来的枝子，也可以不留下你。

神既然不顾惜那本来的树枝，也不会顾惜你。

因为神如果没有顾惜原生的树枝，恐怕也不会顾惜你。

神既不愛惜原來的枝子，也必不愛惜你。

上帝既然不顧惜原來的枝子，豈會顧惜你？

神既然不顧惜原來的枝子，豈會顧惜你？

上帝既然沒有留下原來的枝子，也可以不留下你。

神既然不顧惜那本來的樹枝，也不會顧惜你。

上帝既不愛惜天生的枝子，也就不愛惜你。

因為神如果沒有顧惜原生的樹枝，恐怕也不會顧惜你。

上帝且不惜原枝、亦必不惜爾也、

亦宜戒懼、勿自高其心、上帝且不惜本然之枝、何有於爾、

天主既不惜本然之枝、恐亦不惜爾、

蓋天主且不恤其原有之枝、更將何恤於爾？

For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

God didn’t spare the natural branches. He won’t spare you either.

For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.

For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.

For if God spared not the natural branches,[ take heed] lest he also spare not thee.

For if God did not spare the natural branches, perhaps he will not spare you.

For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment.And God did not spare the ancient world— except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood.Later, God condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and turned them into heaps of ashes. He made them an example of what will happen to ungodly people.But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him.Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day.So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.

Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

So I want to remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later he destroyed those who did not remain faithful.

I have begun to punish Jerusalem, the city that bears my name. Now should I let you go unpunished? No, you will not escape disaster. I will call for war against all the nations of the earth. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!’

I don’t want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground.In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as followers of Moses.All of them ate the same spiritual food,and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.These things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did,or worship idols as some of them did. As the Scriptures say,“ The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged in pagan revelry.”And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day.Nor should we put Christ to the test, as some of them did and then died from snakebites.And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death.These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall.

But some of these branches from Abraham’s tree— some of the people of Israel— have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in. So now you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the rich nourishment from the root of God’s special olive tree.

And this is what the Lord says:“ If the innocent must suffer, how much more must you! You will not go unpunished! You must drink this cup of judgment!

“ Well,” you may say,“ those branches were broken off to make room for me.”
