然而苟不信之、何由籲之、苟不聞之、何由信之；苟不傳之、何有聞之；

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

How can they call on him unless they believe in him? How can they believe in him unless they hear about him? How can they hear about him unless someone preaches to them?

and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior, (niv)

He told them,“ This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (niv)

when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. (niv)

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. (niv)

I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to themto open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ (niv)

But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth. (niv)

Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past,but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith— (niv)

Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name’s sake. (niv)

The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh:“ By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.” (niv)

He answered,“ I am a Hebrew and I worship the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.”This terrified them and they asked,“ What have you done?”( They knew he was running away from the Lord, because he had already told them so.)The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?” (niv)

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (niv)

“ How can I,” he said,“ unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. (niv)

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. (niv)

and asked them,“ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered,“ No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” (niv)

All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep. (niv)

“ As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your name—for they will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm— when they come and pray toward this temple,then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name. At this the men greatly feared the Lord, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows to him. (niv)
