But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher?

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

How can they call on him unless they believe in him? How can they believe in him unless they hear about him? How can they hear about him unless someone preaches to them?

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

Then He said to them,“ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

In His own time He has revealed His message in the proclamation that I was entrusted with by the command of God our Savior:

He also said to them,“ This is what is written: The Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead the third day,and repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

assuming you heard about Him and were taught by Him, because the truth is in Jesus.

The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will restore him to health; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

I will rescue you from the people and from the Gentiles. I now send you to themto open their eyes so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that by faith in Me they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified.’

But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the proclamation might be fully made through me and all the Gentiles might hear. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth.

Now to Him who has power to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation about Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept silent for long agesbut now revealed and made known through the prophetic Scriptures, according to the command of the eternal God to advance the obedience of faith among all nations—

We have received grace and apostleship through Him to bring about the obedience of faith among all the nations, on behalf of His name,

The men of Nineveh believed in God. They proclaimed a fast and dressed in sackcloth— from the greatest of them to the least.When word reached the king of Nineveh, he got up from his throne, took off his royal robe, put on sackcloth, and sat in ashes.Then he issued a decree in Nineveh: By order of the king and his nobles: No man or beast, herd or flock, is to taste anything at all. They must not eat or drink water.Furthermore, both man and beast must be covered with sackcloth, and everyone must call out earnestly to God. Each must turn from his evil ways and from the violence he is doing.Who knows? God may turn and relent; He may turn from His burning anger so that we will not perish.

He answered them,“ I’m a Hebrew. I worship Yahweh, the God of the heavens, who made the sea and the dry land.”Then the men were even more afraid and said to him,“ What is this you’ve done?” The men knew he was fleeing from the Lord’s presence, because he had told them.So they said to him,“ What should we do to you to calm this sea that’s against us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.

“ How can I,” he said,“ unless someone guides me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in His name.

and asked them,“ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”“ No,” they told him,“ we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

The sailors were afraid, and each cried out to his god. They threw the ship’s cargo into the sea to lighten the load. Meanwhile, Jonah had gone down to the lowest part of the vessel and had stretched out and fallen into a deep sleep.

Even for the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of Your name—for they will hear of Your great name, mighty hand, and outstretched arm, and will come and pray toward this temple—may You hear in heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all the foreigner asks You for. Then all the people on earth will know Your name, to fear You as Your people Israel do and know that this temple I have built is called by Your name.

The men feared the Lord even more, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows.
