然未嘗信之、何由籲之、未嘗聞之、何由信之、未有宣者、何由聞之、

曰、未信之、何能龥之、未聞之、何能信之、

然未信之、何能籲之、未聞之、何能信之、無傳者、何能聞乎、

然而苟不信之、何由籲之、苟不聞之、何由信之；苟不傳之、何有聞之；

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

How can they call on him unless they believe in him? How can they believe in him unless they hear about him? How can they hear about him unless someone preaches to them?

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

他又對他們說：「你們往普天下去，傳福音給萬民聽。信而受洗的，必然得救；不信的，必被定罪。

到了日期，藉着傳揚的工夫把他的道顯明了；這傳揚的責任是按着神－我們救主的命令交託了我。

又對他們說：「照經上所寫的，基督必受害，第三日從死裏復活，並且人要奉他的名傳悔改、赦罪的道，從耶路撒冷起直傳到萬邦。

如果你們聽過他的道，領了他的教，學了他的真理，

出於信心的祈禱要救那病人，主必叫他起來；他若犯了罪，也必蒙赦免。

我也要救你脫離百姓和外邦人的手。我差你到他們那裏去，要叫他們的眼睛得開，從黑暗中歸向光明，從撒但權下歸向神；又因信我，得蒙赦罪，和一切成聖的人同得基業。』」

惟有主站在我旁邊，加給我力量，使福音被我盡都傳明，叫外邦人都聽見；我也從獅子口裏被救出來。

惟有神能照我所傳的福音和所講的耶穌基督，並照永古隱藏不言的奧祕，堅固你們的心。這奧祕如今顯明出來，而且按着永生神的命，藉眾先知的書指示萬國的民，使他們信服真道。

我們從他受了恩惠並使徒的職分，在萬國之中叫人為他的名信服真道；

尼尼微人信服神，便宣告禁食，從最大的到至小的都穿麻衣。這信息傳到尼尼微王的耳中，他就下了寶座，脫下朝服，披上麻布，坐在灰中。他又使人遍告尼尼微通城，說：「王和大臣有令，人不可嘗甚麼，牲畜、牛羊不可吃草，也不可喝水。人與牲畜都當披上麻布；人要切切求告神。各人回頭離開所行的惡道，丟棄手中的強暴。或者神轉意後悔，不發烈怒，使我們不致滅亡，也未可知。」

他說：「我是希伯來人。我敬畏耶和華－那創造滄海旱地之天上的神。」他們就大大懼怕，對他說：「你做的是甚麼事呢？」他們已經知道他躲避耶和華，因為他告訴了他們。他們問他說：「我們當向你怎樣行，使海浪平靜呢？」這話是因海浪越發翻騰。

人非有信，就不能得神的喜悅；因為到神面前來的人必須信有神，且信他賞賜那尋求他的人。

他說：「沒有人指教我，怎能明白呢？」於是請腓利上車，與他同坐。

但記這些事要叫你們信耶穌是基督，是神的兒子，並且叫你們信了他，就可以因他的名得生命。

問他們說：「你們信的時候受了聖靈沒有？」他們回答說：「沒有，也未曾聽見有聖靈賜下來。」

水手便懼怕，各人哀求自己的神。他們將船上的貨物拋在海中，為要使船輕些。約拿已下到底艙，躺臥沉睡。

「論到不屬你民以色列的外邦人，為你名從遠方而來，（他們聽人論說你的大名和大能的手，並伸出來的膀臂）向這殿禱告，求你在天上你的居所垂聽，照着外邦人所祈求的而行，使天下萬民都認識你的名，敬畏你像你的民以色列一樣；又使他們知道我建造的這殿是稱為你名下的。

那些人便大大敬畏耶和華，向耶和華獻祭，並且許願。
