曰、未信之、何能龥之、未聞之、何能信之、

然未信之、何能籲之、未聞之、何能信之、無傳者、何能聞乎、

然而苟不信之、何由籲之、苟不聞之、何由信之；苟不傳之、何有聞之；

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

How can they call on him unless they believe in him? How can they believe in him unless they hear about him? How can they hear about him unless someone preaches to them?

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

耶稣对他们说：“你们要到全世界去，向万人传福音。信而受洗的人，将会得救；不信的人，将被定罪。

神在所定的时候，藉着传道把他的话显明了出来；我就是照着神我们救主的命令受了委托。

又对他们说：“经上这样记着：基督必须受难，然后在第三天从死人中复活，并且人要奉他的名宣讲为罪得赦免的悔改，从耶路撒冷开始，直到万国。

如果你们真的听从了他，又照着在耶稣里的真理，在他里面受了教导，

出于信的祈求，将会救那病人；主将使他起来；即使他犯了罪，也将被赦免。

我要从以色列子民和外邦人当中把你救出来。我差派你到他们那里去，为了开启他们的眼睛，使他们从黑暗归向光明，从撒旦的权势下归向神，使他们因着信我，罪得赦免，并且与那些被分别为圣的人同得继业。’

但是主站在我身边，使我刚强，为要藉着我使传道得以完成，让所有外邦人都能听见；我也从狮子口里被救了出来。

愿荣耀归于神——他能藉着我的福音和有关耶稣基督的传道，藉着奥秘的启示坚固你们。这奥秘亘古以来是隐藏的，然而如今已经得以显现；并且按照永恒神的命令，藉着先知们的经文显明了出来。这是为要在万民中带来信仰上的顺从——

我们从他领受了恩典和使徒的职份，为了他名的缘故，要在万民中带来信仰上的顺从；

尼尼微人就相信神，并宣告禁食，无论尊贵的或卑微的，都披上麻布。这话语传到尼尼微王的时候，他从自己的宝座上起来，从身上脱下王袍，披上麻布，坐在灰烬中。然后他颁布谕令，说：“在尼尼微，王和大臣有令：‘无论人或牲畜，牛或羊，都不可尝什么，不可吃什么，也不可喝水。人和牲畜都当披上麻布；各人都当迫切地向神呼求，从自己邪恶的道路上、自己手里的残暴中转回。或许神会转回、施怜悯，从他猛烈的怒气中转回，使我们不致灭亡。’”

约拿对他们说：“我是希伯来人；我敬畏耶和华天上的神；他就是造了海和陆地的那一位。”那些人就大大惧怕，对他说：“你做的这是什么呢？”原来那些人已经知道他逃避耶和华的面，因为他告诉了他们。他们又对他说：“我们该对你怎么做，才能使海为我们平静下来呢？”因为海浪越来越汹涌了。

没有信，就不可能蒙神喜悦，因为来到神面前的人，必须相信神存在，并且相信他报偿那些寻求他的人。

太监回答说：“如果没有人指教我，我怎么能明白呢？”他就请腓利上来和他同坐。

但这些事被记下来，是要你们相信耶稣就是基督、是神的儿子；并且使你们因着信，就奉他的名有生命。

问他们：“你们信的时候，是否领受了圣灵？”他们告诉他：“其实我们也没有听说过是否有圣灵。”

水手们都惧怕，各人就向自己的神哀求。他们把船上的货物抛进海中，为要减轻船的重量。约拿却下到船的底舱，躺下沉睡了。

那些人大大敬畏耶和华，向耶和华献上祭物，并且许愿。
