並且你的見證人司提反受害流血的時候，我也親自在場，表示同意，並且為殺他的人看守衣服。’

這樣，你們就成了證人，對你們祖先的作為表示同意；他們殺害先知，你們修造先知的墳墓。

你既然教導別人，難道不教導自己嗎？你傳講不可偷竊，自己卻偷竊嗎？你說不可姦淫，自己卻姦淫嗎？你憎惡偶像，自己卻劫掠廟宇嗎？你既然以律法誇口，自己卻因犯律法而羞辱神嗎？

司提反被害，掃羅也欣然同意。從那天起，耶路撒冷的教會大受迫害；除了使徒以外，所有的人都分散到猶太和撒瑪利亞各地。
