若輩既冥頑不靈、心棄天主、則天主亦愛莫能助、於是聽其昧心恣行、

他们既然故意不认识神，神就任凭他们存邪僻的心，行那些不合理的事；

他们既然故意不认识上帝，上帝就任凭他们存扭曲的心，做那些不该做的事，

他们既然故意不认识神，神就任凭他们存扭曲的心，做那些不该做的事，

既然他们故意不认识上帝，上帝就任凭他们心思败坏，做不当做的事。

他们既然故意不认识神，神就任凭他们存着败坏的心，去作那些不正当的事。

既然人不愿意真正认识神，神就任凭他们存败坏的理性，去做那些不该做的事。

他們既然故意不認識神，神就任憑他們存邪僻的心，行那些不合理的事；

他們既然故意不認識上帝，上帝就任憑他們存扭曲的心，做那些不該做的事，

他們既然故意不認識神，神就任憑他們存扭曲的心，做那些不該做的事，

既然他們故意不認識上帝，上帝就任憑他們心思敗壞，做不當做的事。

他們既然故意不認識神，神就任憑他們存著敗壞的心，去作那些不正當的事。

他們怎樣在認識上帝選擇了「無上帝」，上帝就怎樣把他們放給不上選的心思，去行不該行的事；

既然人不願意真正認識神，神就任憑他們存敗壞的理性，去做那些不該做的事。

彼知識中既不願有上帝、上帝遂任其喪心、行非宜之行、

彼既不以上帝存於中、上帝聽其喪心、行所不當行、

彼既不願存天主於念、天主聽其存邪僻之心、行所不當行者、

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

They didn’t think it was important to know God. So God let them continue to have evil thoughts. They did things they shouldn’t do.

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.

And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a corrupt mind so that they do what is not right.

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper,

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a worthless mind to do what is morally wrong.

And even as they did not like to retain God in[ their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done.

Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

以種種邪法、熒惑自求淪喪之徒。所謂自求淪喪之徒者、即不知愛慕真理、以望得救者耳。既不愛慕真理、天主亦祇得聽其從妄信謊、於是凡不信真理而惟邪惡是好者、必至判罪而後已。

夫既知有天主矣乃又不以天主事之、而頌詠稱謝焉；復因鑿空蹈虛、流連忘返、以致其冥頑之心、淪於重昏。

斯輩口中承認天主、而其行為實否認天主、悖逆不順、自絕於善、可惡莫甚焉。

因是天主亦聽其縱情恣慾、淪於污穢、互辱其身。

於烈燄中行施報應。凡不識天主、不願服膺吾主耶穌基督之福音者、

若輩心術已壞、喪失信德、反抗真道、正如昔日亞乃芒伯之反抗摩西也。

無他、蓋順於欲者、則逆於天主；如此自不甘服天主之法、且亦不能。故凡體欲之情者、必不能取悅於天主也。

蓋斯世之君、已矇不信者之心、以致基督榮耀福音之真光、亦無由照入；而基督固天主之肖影也。蓋吾人決不作自我宣傳、惟知宣揚吾主耶穌基督；而吾人則因耶穌之故、而充爾等之僕人者耳。夫天主昔嘗作光於黑暗之中矣、今乃照耀於吾人之心中、俾吾人得藉基督耶穌之聖容、而洞識天主之光榮。

當朝乾夕惕孳孳為善、痛絕一切罪行。爾中頗有不識天主者焉！我之言此、爾等倘亦知恥乎。

爾曹曷細自檢點、一測爾信德之虛實。爾曹詎不自知基督實寓於爾心中乎？抑爾曹乃為有名無實之信徒乎？吾儕決不為有名無實；此不能不望爾曹知之也。吾茲祈天主使爾不致為非作惡、而非欲證吾之真實、乃欲使爾為善耳。倘能成爾之美、則吾雖蹈有名無實、色厲內荏之嫌、亦所願焉！

且天主之譴怒、實未嘗不自天而顯、用警悖逆、不義、以邪惡阻塞天理之人。

凡妄自尊大之幻想、違抗天主聖道之妄念、皆在摧毀之列；務使一思一念、順服基督而後已。

茲有美事、予本可托賴基督、毅然命爾行之；

一切穢褻浪謔輕薄之詞、皆宜痛絕；惟宜謳歌主德、稱謝洪恩。

故天主聽其放僻邪侈、荒淫無度；婦女以順性之行、變為逆性之施；

眾聞復活之說、有譏之者；或曰：『容待再聞。』

是亦不思而已矣！夫太初天地之成、實憑天主之言；地由水成、因以堅凝、

蓋吾嘗閒步街頭、一覽爾所崇拜之對象、偶值一壇、上書「獻於未識之神。」茲吾欲揭示於爾者、正爾所未識而敬事者也。
