哪有一國換了他們的神呢？其實那些並不是神；但我的人民卻將他們的榮耀換了那無益的神。

這種人用了假去替換上帝之真，敬拜事奉了被創造之物，而不敬奉創造之主：就是應當受祝頌、萬世無窮的。阿們。

那麼我們既是上帝的族類，就不該以神性為彷彿金銀或石頭、人的手藝和心思所雕刻的。

我進去一看，只見四圍牆上盡畫着各模各樣的爬物、和可憎厭的走獸、跟以色列家的各樣偶像。

他們有口、卻不能說話；有眼、卻不能看；有耳、卻不能聽；有鼻、卻不能聞；有手、卻不能摸；有腳、卻不能走路；也不能用喉嚨出聲。造它們的、正和它們一樣；凡倚靠它們的、正如它們一般。

你們知道、你們還未信教的時候、怎樣被帶走，隨事受牽引、去拜不能出聲的偶像。

『「不可為你自己造雕像，也不可造上天、下地、及地底下水中任何物件的形像。

『所以為了你們自己的緣故、你們要格外謹慎，因為永恆主在何烈山從火中對你們說話的那一天、你們是沒有看見甚麼形像的；那是恐怕你們敗壞自己，為自己造雕像、造任何雕塑物的形像、男的或女的模形、造任何地上的獸類的模形、任何飛在空中有翅膀的鳥兒的模形、任何在地上爬行的動物的模形、任何在地底下水中的魚的模形。

你們將誰來跟上帝相比呢？用甚麼形相來跟上帝並列呢？

你們舉目向上觀看！誰創造這些星呢？是那按數目領其萬象而出、一一點名呼喚的呀；因他力氣大而能力強、沒有一個邋下的。

在過去的時光，你們作出外國人所執意作的，行於邪蕩、私慾、沉醉、荒宴、狂飲、和違例可憎之偶像崇拜、已經夠了。

木匠拉線，用筆畫出樣子，用鉋子鉋平它，用彎尺畫出樣子，作成人的模形，有人類的俊美，好住在廟中。

列國的偶像是銀的、金的，是人的手造的。它們有口卻不能說話；有眼卻不能看；有耳卻不能側耳以聽；它們口中也沒有氣息。造它們的、正和它們一樣；凡倚靠它們的、正如它們一般。

其餘的人、沒有在這些災殃中被殺的、還不改悔他們的手的作為，不停止拜鬼魔和偶像、就是那些金銀銅石木造的、那些不能看不能聽也不能走路的偶像。
