爾原為異邦人、昔崇事不能言之偶像、隨人所誘、此爾所知也、

毋為己作偶像、上天下地、與地下水中百物、毋作其像、

主在何烈山、由火中諭爾、其時爾曹未見何像、故甚當謹慎、恐爾自敗、為己作偶像、仿諸形像、或男像、或女像、或地上走獸像、或空中飛禽像、或地上昆蟲像、或地下水中鱗介像、

爾曹以誰比天主、以何象像之、

爾向高舉目而觀、思此諸物為誰所造、天之萬象、主核其數而攜之出、天之萬象主核其數而攜之出或作惟主使天之萬象按數而顯皆道其名、蓋以主之大能大力、無不應命也、○

我從異邦人之意、邪侈、縱慾、放飲、饕餮、沈湎、更行拜偶像可憎之事、往時如是已足矣、

木工用準繩、以墨畫線、用利器雕刻、循規矩製造、作如人形、猶俊美之人體、置之於室、

列國之偶像、或金或銀、為人手所造、有口不能言、有目不能視、有耳不能聞、且口無呼吸之氣、造之者與賴之者皆與之無異、

其餘之人、未死於此諸災者、猶不改其作為、仍拜諸鬼魔、與不見不聞不行金銀銅木石之偶像、
