他们用虚假取代神的真理，去崇拜、事奉被造之物，而不事奉造物之主——主是当受颂赞的，直到永远！阿们。

所以我们既然是神的后裔，就不应该认为神性是仿佛用人的手艺和心思所雕刻的金、银、石像。

它们有嘴却不能说，有眼却不能看；有耳却不能听，有鼻却不能闻；有手却不能摸，有脚却不能走，也不能用喉咙发出声音。那些造它们的、所有依靠它们的，都会像它们那样。

你们知道，当你们还是外邦人的时候，是怎样被引诱、被带到那些不能说话的偶像那里的。

你们把神比作谁呢？你们把神与什么形像并列呢？

你们向高天举目观看吧！是谁创造了这些万象？是按着数目把万象领出来的那一位！他一一点其名；因他的大能大力，它们一个也不缺失。

要知道，过往的日子，你们做了外邦人愿意做的事，活在好色、私欲、酗酒、荒宴、狂饮和律法所禁止的拜偶像之中——这已经够了。

木匠拉准绳，用笔画出偶像的样子，用刨子刨成形状，用圆规画出轮廓，把偶像做成人的样式，像人那样的美丽，好住在庙里。

列国的偶像是银的、金的，是人手所做的：它们有嘴却不能说，有眼却不能看；有耳却不能听，口中也没有气息；那些造它们的、所有依靠它们的，都会像它们那样。

可是，其余没有被这些灾害所杀的人，还是不悔改离开自己手所做的，不停止拜鬼魔和那些金、银、铜、石、木的偶像——它们既不能看、也不能听、更不能走。
