雖然列國的神明根本不是真神，卻沒有一國更換自己的神明。但我的子民卻把自己榮耀的上帝換作了無用的假神。

他們把上帝的真理當作謊言，祭拜、供奉受造之物，卻不敬拜、事奉造物主。主是永遠值得稱頌的。阿們！

我們既然是上帝的子孫，就不該認為上帝是人憑手藝和想象用金、銀、石頭所雕刻的樣子。

我進去後，看見四周的牆上畫滿了各種爬蟲、可憎的獸類和以色列人拜的神像。

它們有口不能言，有眼不能看，有耳不能聽，有鼻不能聞，有手不能摸，有腳不能走，有喉嚨也不能發聲。那些製造它們、信靠它們的人也會和它們一樣。

你們知道，自己在信主前曾受到迷惑和引誘去拜不會說話的偶像。

「『不可為自己雕刻神像，不可仿照任何飛禽走獸或水族的樣子造神像，

「你們要格外小心，耶和華在何烈山的火焰中對你們說話時，你們沒有看見任何形像，所以不可墮落，去為自己製造任何形狀的神像——男人、女人、飛禽走獸、爬蟲或魚類。

你們拿誰與上帝相比呢？你們用什麼形像比作上帝呢？

你們向天舉目，看看是誰創造了這萬象？是誰把眾星一一領出來，給它們取名？祂的權柄和能力極大無比，它們一個也不會少。

你們從前長期沉溺於異教徒的嗜好——淫亂、縱慾、醉酒、狂歡、宴樂和可憎的偶像崇拜。

木匠拉線測量木料，用筆勾出形狀，用圓規畫出模樣，仿照人的樣子用鑿子做成逼真的神像，放在廟宇裡。

外族人的神像是人用金銀造的。它們有口不能說，有眼不能看，有耳不能聽，口中毫無氣息。那些製造它們、信靠它們的人也會和它們一樣。

其餘沒有被這些災害所殺的人仍不肯悔改、停止手中的惡行，還是去拜魔鬼和那些用金、銀、銅、石、木所造，不能看、不能聽、不能行走的偶像。
