虽然列国的神明根本不是真神，却没有一国更换自己的神明。但我的子民却把自己荣耀的上帝换作了无用的假神。

他们把上帝的真理当作谎言，祭拜、供奉受造之物，却不敬拜、事奉造物主。主是永远值得称颂的。阿们！

我们既然是上帝的子孙，就不该认为上帝是人凭手艺和想象用金、银、石头所雕刻的样子。

我进去后，看见四周的墙上画满了各种爬虫、可憎的兽类和以色列人拜的神像。

它们有口不能言，有眼不能看，有耳不能听，有鼻不能闻，有手不能摸，有脚不能走，有喉咙也不能发声。那些制造它们、信靠它们的人也会和它们一样。

你们知道，自己在信主前曾受到迷惑和引诱去拜不会说话的偶像。

“‘不可为自己雕刻神像，不可仿照任何飞禽走兽或水族的样子造神像，

“你们要格外小心，耶和华在何烈山的火焰中对你们说话时，你们没有看见任何形象，所以不可堕落，去为自己制造任何形状的神像——男人、女人、飞禽走兽、爬虫或鱼类。

你们拿谁与上帝相比呢？你们用什么形象比作上帝呢？

你们向天举目，看看是谁创造了这万象？是谁把众星一一领出来，给它们取名？祂的权柄和能力极大无比，它们一个也不会少。

你们从前长期沉溺于异教徒的嗜好——淫乱、纵欲、醉酒、狂欢、宴乐和可憎的偶像崇拜。

木匠拉线测量木料，用笔勾出形状，用圆规画出模样，仿照人的样子用凿子做成逼真的神像，放在庙宇里。

外族人的神像是人用金银造的。它们有口不能说，有眼不能看，有耳不能听，口中毫无气息。那些制造它们、信靠它们的人也会和它们一样。

其余没有被这些灾害所杀的人仍不肯悔改、停止手中的恶行，还是去拜魔鬼和那些用金、银、铜、石、木所造，不能看、不能听、不能行走的偶像。
