For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

I want to preach it because I’m not ashamed of the good news. It is God’s power to save everyone who believes. It is meant first for the Jews. It is meant also for the Gentiles.

My conversation and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word of Christ.

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.For it is written,“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of the intelligent.”Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?For since in the wisdom of God the world by its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased to save those who believe by the foolishness of preaching.For Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks ask for wisdom,but we preach about a crucified Christ, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

For I decided to be concerned about nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double- edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.

and by which you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message I preached to you– unless you believed in vain.

My message is like a fire that purges dross! It is like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces! I, the LORD, so affirm it!

There will be affliction and distress on everyone who does evil, on the Jew first and also the Greek,

not that there really is another gospel, but there are some who are disturbing you and wanting to distort the gospel of Christ.

for the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, but are made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds. We tear down argumentsand every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ.

Who would have believed what we just heard? When was the LORD’s power revealed through him?

Your faith and love have arisen from the hope laid up for you in heaven, which you have heard about in the message of truth, the gospelthat has come to you. Just as in the entire world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, so it has also been bearing fruit and growing among you from the first day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth.

And so we too constantly thank God that when you received God’s message that you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human message, but as it truly is, God’s message, which is at work among you who believe.

But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and who makes known through us the fragrance that consists of the knowledge of him in every place.For we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing–to the latter an odor from death to death, but to the former a fragrance from life to life. And who is adequate for these things?

I will speak about your regulations before kings and not be ashamed.
