Then I saw him open the sixth seal. A violent earthquake occurred; the sun turned black like sackcloth made of hair; the entire moon became like blood;

you will be punished by the LORD of Armies with thunder, earthquake, and loud noise, storm, tempest, and a flame of consuming fire.

When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God boldly.

I called to the LORD in my distress; I called to my God. The LORD spoke to the man clothed in linen and said,“ Go inside the wheelwork beneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with blazing coals from among the cherubim and scatter them over the city.” So he went in as I watched.Now the cherubim were standing to the south of the temple when the man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court.Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the cherub to the threshold of the temple. The temple was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the LORD’s glory.The sound of the cherubim’s wings could be heard as far as the outer court; it was like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks.After the LORD commanded the man clothed in linen, saying,“ Take fire from inside the wheelwork, from among the cherubim,” the man went in and stood beside a wheel.Then the cherub reached out his hand to the fire that was among them. He took some and put it into the hands of the man clothed in linen, who took it and went out.

Then he said,“ Go out and stand on the mountain in the LORD’s presence.” At that moment, the LORD passed by. A great and mighty wind was tearing at the mountains and was shattering cliffs before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.

You will see, you will rejoice, and you will flourish like grass; then the LORD’s power will be revealed to his servants, but he will show his wrath against his enemies.Look, the LORD will come with fire— his chariots are like the whirlwind— to execute his anger with fury and his rebuke with flames of fire.For the LORD will execute judgment on all humanity with his fiery sword, and many will be slain by the LORD.

And the LORD will make the splendor of his voice heard and reveal his arm striking in angry wrath and a flame of consuming fire, in driving rain, a torrent, and hailstones.

For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

You will flee by my mountain valley, for the valley of the mountains will extend to Azal. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of King Uzziah of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come and all the holy ones with him.

Sharpen the arrows! Fill the quivers! The LORD has roused the spirit of the kings of the Medes because his plan is aimed at Babylon to destroy her, for it is the LORD’s vengeance, vengeance for his temple.

A sound of uproar from the city! A voice from the temple— the voice of the LORD, paying back his enemies what they deserve!

For you have not come to what could be touched, to a blazing fire, to darkness, gloom, and storm,to the blast of a trumpet, and the sound of words. Those who heard it begged that not another word be spoken to them,

So they blasphemed the name of God, who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent and give him glory.The fifth poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues because of their painand blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they did not repent of their works.The sixth poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east.Then I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming from the dragon’s mouth, from the beast’s mouth, and from the mouth of the false prophet.For they are demonic spirits performing signs, who travel to the kings of the whole world to assemble them for the battle on the great day of God, the Almighty.“ Look, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who is alert and remains clothed so that he may not go around naked and people see his shame.”So they assembled the kings at the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.Then the seventh poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying,“ It is done!”There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder. And a severe earthquake occurred like no other since people have been on the earth, so great was the quake.The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the Great was remembered in God’s presence; he gave her the cup filled with the wine of his fierce anger.Every island fled, and the mountains disappeared.Enormous hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds, fell from the sky on people, and they blasphemed God for the plague of hail because that plague was extremely severe.
