The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.

And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

The sun and moon will grow dark, And the stars will diminish their brightness.

And it shall come to pass in all the land,” Says the Lord,“ That two-thirds in it shall be cut off and die, But one-third shall be left in it:I will bring the one-third through the fire, Will refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say,‘ This is My people’; And each one will say,‘ The Lord is my God.’”

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may even be felt.”So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days.They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.Then Pharaoh called to Moses and said,“ Go, serve the Lord; only let your flocks and your herds be kept back. Let your little ones also go with you.”But Moses said,“ You must also give us sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.Our livestock also shall go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind. For we must take some of them to serve the Lord our God, and even we do not know with what we must serve the Lord until we arrive there.”But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go.Then Pharaoh said to him,“ Get away from me! Take heed to yourself and see my face no more! For in the day you see my face you shall die!”So Moses said,“ You have spoken well. I will never see your face again.”

I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood.

The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

“ Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

“ And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;

Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.

“ But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;

His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.

Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.

By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed— by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths.

Then the moon will be disgraced And the sun ashamed; For the Lord of hosts will reign On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem And before His elders, gloriously.

The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.

Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire.And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.

I beheld the earth, and indeed it was without form, and void; And the heavens, they had no light.

When I put out your light, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, And the moon shall not give her light.All the bright lights of the heavens I will make dark over you, And bring darkness upon your land,” Says the Lord God.

“ And it shall come to pass in that day,” says the Lord GOD,“ That I will make the sun go down at noon, And I will darken the earth in broad daylight;

whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
