The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.

角初鳴、冰炭和血紛然落地、地成焦土者、三分居一、樹木之被焚者、亦三分居一、草則全燒。角二鳴、有大火如山、投於海、海水變血者三分居一、海中生物遭殃者亦三分居一、舟楫被毀者亦三分居一。角三鳴、有巨星如炬、自天而隕、江河水泉之被其災者、三分居一。星名荼毒；故天下三分居一之水皆變荼毒、飲者多死、不堪其苦也。角四鳴、日月星三光皆三分食其一；晝晦光三分、夜亦如之。

啟六緘、地大震、日黑如褐月赤如血、

惟大憝之暴興也、亦必恃沙殫之魔力、恣權行異、以種種邪法、熒惑自求淪喪之徒。所謂自求淪喪之徒者、即不知愛慕真理、以望得救者耳。既不愛慕真理、天主亦祇得聽其從妄信謊、於是凡不信真理而惟邪惡是好者、必至判罪而後已。

四天神之釋也、所以按預定之年月日時、而殺戮三分居一之人類也。

大難甫平、日即晦冥、月失其明；眾星隕墜、天德動搖。

自午正至申初、徧地晦冥；及申初、

日月星辰、異兆色色、海濤怒吼、萬國杌楻、

自午正至申初、日光晦冥、徧地昏黑、殿幕中裂為二、

『大難之後、日晦冥、月無光、

尾曳天星三分之一、投之於地。龍伏產婦前、俟其分娩、以吞其子。

自午至申、徧地晦冥。

自口中噴出；殲滅人類三分之一者、即此三物耳。

日晦暝、月變血、則主赫顯之日將至。

第四天神傾注其爵於太陽、受權得以烈火薰炙人類；人既受炙、遂謗讟有權制災之天主；猶不知憣然悔改而稱頌威光。

蓋斯世之君、已矇不信者之心、以致基督榮耀福音之真光、亦無由照入；而基督固天主之肖影也。
