The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.

For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be dark at its rising, and the moon will not shed its light.

The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

In the whole land, declares the Lord, two thirds shall be cut off and perish, and one third shall be left alive.And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say,‘ They are my people’; and they will say,‘ The Lord is my God.’”

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness to be felt.”So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was pitch darkness in all the land of Egypt three days.They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but all the people of Israel had light where they lived.Then Pharaoh called Moses and said,“ Go, serve the Lord; your little ones also may go with you; only let your flocks and your herds remain behind.”But Moses said,“ You must also let us have sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.Our livestock also must go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind, for we must take of them to serve the Lord our God, and we do not know with what we must serve the Lord until we arrive there.”But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go.Then Pharaoh said to him,“ Get away from me; take care never to see my face again, for on the day you see my face you shall die.”Moses said,“ As you say! I will not see your face again.”

When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood,

The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

“ Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

“ And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves,

It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,while the sun’s light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.

“ But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,

His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it.

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.

By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulfur coming out of their mouths.

Then the moon will be confounded and the sun ashamed, for the Lord of hosts reigns on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and his glory will be before his elders.

the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.

The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire.They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory.

I looked on the earth, and behold, it was without form and void; and to the heavens, and they had no light.

When I blot you out, I will cover the heavens and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light.All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over you, and put darkness on your land, declares the Lord God.

“ And on that day,” declares the Lord God,“ I will make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight.

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
