The kings of the earth, the princes, the commanding officers, the rich, the strong, and every slave and free person, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.

They will go into caves in the rocky cliffs and into holes in the ground, trying to escape the dreadful judgment of the LORD and his royal splendor, when he rises up to terrify the earth.

Go up into the rocky cliffs, hide in the ground. Get away from the dreadful judgment of the LORD, from his royal splendor!

At that time the LORD will punish the heavenly forces in the heavens and the earthly kings on the earth.They will be imprisoned in a pit, locked up in a prison, and after staying there for a long time, they will be punished.

so they themselves can go into the crevices of the rocky cliffs and the openings under the rocky overhangs, trying to escape the dreadful judgment of the LORD and his royal splendor, when he rises up to terrify the earth.

So now, you kings, do what is wise; you rulers of the earth, submit to correction!Serve the LORD in fear! Repent in terror!Give sincere homage! Otherwise he will be angry, and you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites. How blessed are all who take shelter in him!

He humbles princes; the kings of the earth regard him as awesome.

The men of Israel realized they had a problem because their army was hard pressed. So the army hid in caves, thickets, cliffs, strongholds, and cisterns.

Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur.The others were killed by the sword that extended from the mouth of the one who rode the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves with their flesh.

O sovereign LORD, at your right hand he strikes down kings in the day he unleashes his anger.He executes judgment against the nations; he fills the valleys with corpses; he shatters their heads over the vast battlefield.

Listen to this, all you nations! Pay attention, all you inhabitants of the world!Pay attention, all you people, both rich and poor!

The Midianites overwhelmed Israel. Because of Midian the Israelites made shelters for themselves in the hills, as well as caves and strongholds.

Then the kings of the earth who committed immoral acts with her and lived in sensual luxury with her will weep and wail for her when they see the smoke from the fire that burns her up.They will stand a long way off because they are afraid of her torment, and will say,“ Woe, woe, O great city, Babylon the powerful city! For in a single hour your doom has come!”Then the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn for her because no one buys their cargo any longer–

But these people are looted and plundered; all of them are trapped in pits and held captive in prisons. They were carried away as loot with no one to rescue them; they were carried away as plunder, and no one says,“ Bring that back!”

who shows no partiality to princes, and does not take note of the rich more than the poor, because all of them are the work of his hands?In a moment they die, in the middle of the night, people are shaken and they pass away. The mighty are removed effortlessly.

They will lick the dust like a snake, like serpents crawling on the ground. They will come trembling from their strongholds to the LORD our God; they will be terrified of you.
