The full moon will be covered up, the bright sun will be darkened; for the LORD who commands armies will rule on Mount Zion in Jerusalem in the presence of his assembly, in majestic splendor.

After the fire, there was a soft whisper.When Elijah heard it, he covered his face with his robe and went out and stood at the entrance to the cave. All of a sudden a voice asked him,“ Why are you here, Elijah?”

Judgment will come from the LORD who commands armies, accompanied by thunder, earthquake, and a loud noise, by a strong gale, a windstorm, and a consuming flame of fire.

For nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

Then you will escape through my mountain valley, for the mountains will extend to Azal. Indeed, you will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of King Uzziah of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come with all his holy ones with him.

The sun will no longer supply light for you by day, nor will the moon’s brightness shine on you; the LORD will be your permanent source of light– the splendor of your God will shine upon you.Your sun will no longer set; your moon will not disappear; the LORD will be your permanent source of light; your time of sorrow will be over.

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,because the sun’s light failed. The temple curtain was torn in two.

Suddenly there was a severe earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descending from heaven came and rolled away the stone and sat on it.

Now when the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and what took place, they were extremely terrified and said,“ Truly this one was God’s Son!”

Now from noon until three, darkness came over all the land.
