看哪！耶和华的日子来到，是残忍的，带着盛怒和猛烈的怒气，为要使这地成为废墟，为要除灭其中的罪人。天上的星辰和众星座都不发光；太阳出来时就是黑的，月亮也不放光。

就在那时刻，发生了大地震，那城的十分之一倒塌了，在地震中死去的有七千人。其余的人都感到害怕，把荣耀归给天上的神。

我使诸天以黑暗为衣服，以麻布为遮盖。”

那时，月亮抱愧，太阳蒙羞，因为万军之耶和华必在锡安山、在耶路撒冷作王，并在他的长老们面前显出荣耀。

接着，那位天使拿起香炉，把它装满了祭坛上的火，扔到地上；于是就有雷鸣、声音、闪电和地震。

顷刻之间，万军之耶和华必突然用雷霆、地震、巨响、旋风、狂风和吞噬的火焰来惩罚他们。

一个民族要起来反对另一个民族，一个国家要起来反对另一个国家；到处都会有饥荒和地震。

白天太阳必不再作你的光，月亮的光辉也不再照亮你；耶和华必作你永远的光，你的神必作你的荣耀。你的太阳必不再下落，你的月亮也不再亏缺；耶和华必作你永远的光，你哀恸的日子将会结束。

那时大约是中午十二点，黑暗笼罩了整个大地，一直到下午三点。太阳失去了光，同时，圣所里的幔子裂成两半。

忽然发生了强烈的地震，主的一位天使从天上降下来，上前把那石头滚开，坐在上面。
