我看見那位坐在寶座上的，右手拿著書卷，這書卷的兩面都寫滿了字，用七個印封著。

又見位於寶座者、右手執一卷、內外俱有文字七印緘焉。

Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals.

我觀看，看見一隻手向我伸過來，手中有一卷書卷。他把書卷在我面前展開，書卷內外都寫上字，寫的是哀歌、悲歎和災禍。

對你們來說，整個異象就像密封的書卷的話，人把這書卷交給識字的，說：“請念吧！”他必回答：“我不能念，因為它是密封的。”

羊羔走過去，從坐在寶座上那位的右手中取了書卷。

手裡拿著展開的小書卷。他的右腳踏在海上，左腳踏在地上，

我又聽見在天上、地上、地底下和海裡的一切被造之物，以及天地間的萬有，都說：“願頌讚、尊貴、榮耀、能力，都歸給坐在寶座上的那一位和羊羔，直到永永遠遠！”

羊羔揭開了七印的第一個印的時候，我觀看，就聽見四個活物中的一個，發出好像雷轟的聲響，說：“你來！”

但以理啊！你要隱藏這些話，把這書密封，直到末期，必有許多人來往奔跑，知識增多。”我但以理觀看，看見另有兩個天使，一個站在河岸的這邊，一個站在河岸的那邊。有一個問那身穿細麻衣、站在河水以上的人，說：“這些奇異的事的結局幾時才到呢？”我聽見那身穿細麻衣、站在河水以上的人，向天舉起左右手，指著活到永遠的主起誓，說：“要經過一載、二載、半載（“一載、二載、半載”或譯：“一個時期、多個時期、半個時期”）；在他們完全粉碎聖民的勢力的時候，這一切事就都要完成。”我聽見，卻不明白，我就問：“我主啊，這些事的結局是怎樣呢？”他回答：“但以理啊！你只管去吧，因為這些話已經隱藏密封，直到末期。

那位坐著的，看來好像碧玉和紅寶石，又有彩虹圍繞著寶座，看來好像綠寶石。

我先前聽見那從天上來的聲音又對我說：“你去，把那站在海上和地上的天使手中展開的書卷拿過來。”我就走到天使那裡，請他把小書卷給我。他對我說：“你拿著，吃下去。它必使你肚子苦澀，但是口裡卻好像蜜一樣甘甜。”我把小書卷從天使手中拿過來，吃了，在口裡果然甘甜如蜜；但是吃完之後，我肚子就覺得苦澀。他們又對我說：“論到許多民族、邦國、方言和君王，你必須再說預言。”

你要捲起律法書，在我的門徒中間封住訓誨。

關於所說二千三百個晚上和早晨的異象是真的，但你要把這異象封住，因為那是關於將來許多的年日的。”

你們要查考和閱讀耶和華的書卷；這些都無一缺少，也沒有一個是沒有伴偶的，因為他的口（按照《馬索拉文本》，“他的口”作“我的口”；現參照《死海古卷》和其他古譯本翻譯）已吩咐了，他的靈已把牠們聚集。
