我知道你的患难和贫穷；其实你是富有的。我也知道从那些自称是犹太人而来的毁谤，其实他们不是犹太人，而是属于撒旦会堂的。

君王们必作你儿女的抚养人，王后们必作你儿女的乳母；他们必脸伏于地，向你下拜，舔你脚上的尘土。那时，你就知道：我是耶和华，等候我的必不致蒙羞。”

那些曾苦待你的，他们的子孙都必来向你屈身；所有曾藐视你的，都要在你的脚前下拜；他们要称你为“耶和华的城”、“以色列圣者的锡安”。

因为你在我眼中看为宝贵、视为尊贵，更因为我爱你，所以我牺牲别人替代你，牺牲万族替代你的性命。

在各个省、各个城市，在王令和他的法令所传到的地方，犹太人都有了欢喜、快乐，有了宴席和庆祝的日子。那地的民众中有许多人，因为惧怕犹太人，就自称是犹太人。

耶和华如此说：“埃及的辛苦所得、库实的盈利所得、身材高大的西巴人，都必来到你这里、归属你；他们必戴着锁链来跟随你，向你下拜，向你承认说：‘神真是在你们中间，别无其二，没有别的神！’”

可是保罗对他们说：“我们是罗马公民，并没有被定罪，他们却当众打我们，把我们投进监狱。现在他们还要悄悄地把我们赶出去吗？当然不行！让他们亲自来领我们出去！”那些刑杖官把这些话报告给官长们，官长们一听他们是罗马公民，就惧怕了，于是来安抚他们，并且把他们领出来，请求他们离开那城。
