There is a wide open door for a great work here, although many oppose me.

When I came to the city of Troas to preach the Good News of Christ, the Lord opened a door of opportunity for me.

Upon arriving in Antioch, they called the church together and reported everything God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles, too.

And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

“ Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world.

But Peter denied it in front of everyone.“ I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said.Later, out by the gate, another servant girl noticed him and said to those standing around,“ This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”Again Peter denied it, this time with an oath.“ I don’t even know the man,” he said.

“ Look, I am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book.”

But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.

“ Write this letter to the angel of the church in Sardis. This is the message from the one who has the sevenfold Spirit of God and the seven stars:“ I know all the things you do, and that you have a reputation for being alive— but you are dead.

I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

“ I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars.

For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

Do you remember what I told you?‘ A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”Judas( not Judas Iscariot, but the other disciple with that name) said to him,“ Lord, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us and not to the world at large?”Jesus replied,“ All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.

During these persecutions, little help will arrive, and many who join them will not be sincere.

For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob— the God of all our ancestors— who has brought glory to his servant Jesus by doing this. This is the same Jesus whom you handed over and rejected before Pilate, despite Pilate’s decision to release him.You rejected this holy, righteous one and instead demanded the release of a murderer.

Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away.Each time he said,“ My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
