故此要回想你怎樣領受，怎樣聽；務要執守，也要悔改。若不儆醒起來，我就像賊臨到，你決不能知道我在哪一時辰要臨到你。

但主的日子總必來到；來時就像賊一樣。當那日、天必轟然一聲地過去，星辰必因烈熾而被消毁，地和地上被造之物就不見了。

所以你們要儆醒，因為你們不知道你們的主甚麼日子要來。但這一點你們卻要曉得：家主若知道賊甚麼更次要來，他就要儆醒，不容他的房屋被挖透。

這一點你們要曉得：家主若知道賊甚麼鐘點要來，他就不讓他的房屋給挖透了。你們呢、也該有準備，因為當你們想不到的鐘點，人子就來了。』

看吧，我來像賊一樣；那儆醒並保守其衣裳、免得赤身而行、讓人看見他的下體的、有福啊！）

親愛的，我寫給你們的、這已是第二封的書信了。在這兩封之中、我們都以提醒來激發你們純潔的心神，

但你們呢、弟兄們，你們並不是在黑暗裏、以致那日子像個賊突襲了你們一樣。你們都是光明之兒女，白晝之兒女。我們不是屬夜的，也不是屬黑暗的。那我們就不該睡着、像其餘的人一樣了；卻要儆醒着、冷靜戒備着。

所以你們要儆醒，因為你們不知道那日子或那時辰。

提摩太啊，你要保守住所受的託付，要躲避凡俗的空談、和假稱為「知識」之對比論。

故此我們必須越發注意到所聽的，恐怕我們被潮流所衝走。

不過你們所已有的，你們總要執守、直到我來。

你們要謹慎，要覺醒着；因為你們不知道那時機是甚麼時候。

那時你們必想起你們的壞行徑、和不好的作為，就因你們的罪孽和可厭惡的事而討厭自己。

凡我所愛的、我就指責管教；所以你要發熱心，要悔改。

恐怕他忽然來到，遇見你們在睡着。

我給了她時間、讓她悔改；她又不願意改悔她的淫亂。看吧，我必將她丟在病床上；那些同她行淫的人若不改悔她的行為，我也必將他們丟在大苦難中。

你從我所聽見的健全言論，你要用那在基督耶穌裏的信心和愛心奉為規範。

你接納你姐妹、你大姐跟你小妹的時候，我要將她們賜給你為女兒，你就會追念你所行的而自覺慚愧；但這並不是因你跟她們立的約。我要立定我的約、與你立的約（你就知道我乃是永恆主）好使你在我赦宥你除淨你一切所行的之時，你心裏能夠追念而自覺慚愧，並因你受的羞辱而不再開口：這是主永恆主發神諭說的。』

我以為儘我還在這帳幕的時候，以提醒來激發你們、是正當的。

我必快來；你所有的、你要持守着，免得有人奪取了你的華冠。

在那裏你們要追念你們玷污自己的所行所為，也要因你們所作的一切壞事而討厭自己。
