The mountains will be demolished, the cliffs will collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground.I will call for a sword against him on all my mountains— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD— and every man’s sword will be against his brother.I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour out torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and burning sulfur on him, as well as his troops and the many peoples who are with him.I will display my greatness and holiness, and will reveal myself in the sight of many nations. Therefore, from one man— in fact, from one as good as dead— came offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky and as innumerable as the grains of sand along the seashore.

Israel, even if your people were as numerous as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return. Destruction has been decreed; justice overflows.

Even as the stars of heaven cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so too I will make innumerable the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who minister to me.”

Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand by the sea; they were eating, drinking, and rejoicing.

Now the Midianites, Amalekites, and all the people of the east had settled down in the valley like a swarm of locusts, and their camels were as innumerable as the sand on the seashore.

The Philistines also gathered to fight against Israel: three thousand chariots, six thousand horsemen, and troops as numerous as the sand on the seashore. They went up and camped at Michmash, east of Beth-aven.
