“ But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first!

但我有一件要責備你的，就是你已經撇棄了你先前的愛心。

然而，我有事要責備你，就是你放棄了你起初的愛；

然我有所責爾者、以爾初時之愛已棄之矣、

然爾猶有疵可摘、爾初愛我、今則漠然、

然猶有可責爾者、因爾始初之愛淡漠矣、

第吾有不滿於爾者、以爾已無初愛之忱也。

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.

‘ But here is something I hold against you. You have turned away from the love you had at first.

But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.

But I have this against you: You have abandoned the love you had at first.

But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

But I have this against thee, that thou didst leave thy first love.

But I have this against you: You have abandoned the love you had at first.

Nevertheless I have[ somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

But I have this against you: You have departed from your first love!

But I have this against you, that you left your first love.

Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

“ Go and shout this message to Jerusalem. This is what the Lord says:“ I remember how eager you were to please me as a young bride long ago, how you loved me and followed me even through the barren wilderness.In those days Israel was holy to the Lord, the first of his children. All who harmed his people were declared guilty, and disaster fell on them. I, the Lord, have spoken!”Listen to the word of the Lord, people of Jacob— all you families of Israel!This is what the Lord says:“ What did your ancestors find wrong with me that led them to stray so far from me? They worshiped worthless idols, only to become worthless themselves.

For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.

I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.

But we don’t need to write to you about the importance of loving each other, for God himself has taught you to love one another.Indeed, you already show your love for all the believers throughout Macedonia. Even so, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you to love them even more.

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.

“ Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen— the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s new creation:“ I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other!But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!You say,‘ I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.

“ But I have a few complaints against you. You tolerate some among you whose teaching is like that of Balaam, who showed Balak how to trip up the people of Israel. He taught them to sin by eating food offered to idols and by committing sexual sin.

“ But I have this complaint against you. You are permitting that woman— that Jezebel who calls herself a prophet— to lead my servants astray. She teaches them to commit sexual sin and to eat food offered to idols.
