惟吾對爾亦略有未滿；蓋爾中有少數人、服膺巴拉盎之邪道；巴拉盎者、即昔日教唆巴拉可置躓石於義塞子孫之前、令食祭像之物、且誘其行淫者也。

Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality.

‘ But I have a few things against you. Some of your people follow the teaching of Balaam. He taught Balak to lead the people of Israel into sin. So they ate food that had been offered to statues of gods. And they committed sexual sins.

But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality.

“ But I have a few complaints against you. You tolerate some among you whose teaching is like that of Balaam, who showed Balak how to trip up the people of Israel. He taught them to sin by eating food offered to idols and by committing sexual sin.

But I have a few things against you. You have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block in front of the Israelites: to eat meat sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond servants astray so that they commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

abandoning the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the reward of unrighteousness;

Behold, they caused the sons of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to be unfaithful to the Lord in the matter of Peor, so that the plague took place among the congregation of the Lord!

that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from acts of sexual immorality; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well. Farewell.”

While Israel remained at Shittim, the people began to commit infidelity with the daughters of Moab.For they invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods.So Israel became followers of Baal of Peor, and the Lord was angry with Israel.

Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have given themselves up to the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, rose up and fought against Israel, and he sent messengers and summoned Balaam the son of Beor to curse you.

Look at the people of Israel; are those who eat the sacrifices not partners in the altar?What do I mean then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?No, but I say that things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to become partners with demons.You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we?All things are permitted, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted, but not all things build people up.No one is to seek his own advantage, but rather that of his neighbor.Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions, for the sake of conscience;for the earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains.If one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, eat anything that is set before you without asking questions, for the sake of conscience.But if anyone says to you,“ This is meat sacrificed to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of that one who informed you and for the sake of conscience;Now by“ conscience” I do not mean your own, but the other person’s; for why is my freedom judged by another’s conscience?If I partake with thankfulness, why am I slandered about that for which I give thanks?Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.

Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

and,“ A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this they were also appointed.

But regarding the Gentiles who have believed, we sent a letter, having decided that they should abstain from meat sacrificed to idols and from blood and what is strangled, and from sexual immorality.”

But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and sexually immoral persons, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, however God will do away with both of them. But the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.Do you not know that your bodies are parts of Christ? Shall I then take away the parts of Christ and make them parts of a prostitute? Far from it!Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says,“ The two shall become one flesh.”But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols, from acts of sexual immorality, from what has been strangled, and from blood.For from ancient generations Moses has those who preach him in every city, since he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

They killed the kings of Midian along with the rest of those killed: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.

Therefore let’s not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this: not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s or sister’s way.

But because of sexual immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband.

Therefore, concerning the eating of food sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing at all in the world, and that there is no God but one.For even if there are so called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords,yet for us there is only one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.However, not all people have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.Now food will not bring us close to God; we are neither the worse if we do not eat, nor the better if we do eat.But take care that this freedom of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.For if someone sees you, the one who has knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, will his conscience, if he is weak, not be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols?For through your knowledge the one who is weak is ruined, the brother or sister for whose sake Christ died.And so, by sinning against the brothers and sisters and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.Therefore, if food causes my brother to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to sin.

Again, when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and commits sin, and I place an obstacle before him, he will die; since you have not warned him, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require from your hand.

Therefore, this is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I am placing stumbling blocks before this people. And they will stumble against them, Fathers and sons together; Neighbor and friend will perish.”

And it will be said,“ Build up, build up, prepare the way, Remove every obstacle from the way of My people.”

“ Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to the person through whom the stumbling block comes!

It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother or sister stumbles.

So now, behold, I am going to my people; come, and I will advise you of what this people will do to your people in the days to come.”

Since they ministered to them before their idols and became a stumbling block of wrongdoing to the house of Israel, for that reason I have sworn against them,” declares the Lord God,“ that they shall suffer the punishment for their wrongdoing.

Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral persons, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though they could by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,

And David says,“ May their table become a snare and a trap, And a stumbling block and a retribution to them.

but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness,
