在他的右手中拿着七颗星；从他口中发出一把双刃的利剑；他的面容好像烈日发光。

你所看见的，我右手中的七颗星，和这七座金灯台的奥秘就是：七颗星是七个教会的使者，七座灯台是七个教会。

说：“把你所看见的写在书卷上，送到那七个教会：以弗所、士每拿、佩尔伽马、锡亚蒂拉、萨迪斯、费拉德菲亚和劳迪西亚。”我转过身，要看看谁的声音对我说话。我转过身就看见了七座金灯台。灯台中间有一位仿佛人子的，身穿垂到脚的长袍，胸间束着金带。

“你要给那在萨迪斯教会的使者写信说：“那位有神的七个灵和七颗星的，这样说：我知道你的行为，你名义上是活的，其实你是死的。

“你要给那在佩尔伽马教会的使者写信说：“那位有双刃利剑的，这样说：

“你要给那在费拉德菲亚教会的使者写信说：“那位神圣的、真实的，拿着大卫的钥匙、开了就没有人能关、关了就没有人能开的，这样说：

“你要给那在锡亚蒂拉教会的使者写信说：“神的儿子，就是那位眼睛如火焰、两脚仿佛精铜的，这样说：

“你要给那在劳迪西亚教会的使者写信说：“那位阿们，就是那信实的、真实的见证者，神创造之物的本源，这样说：

“你要给士每拿教会的使者写信说：“那位首先的、末后的，那位曾经死去又活过来的，这样说：

因为哪里有两三个人奉我的名聚集，我就在哪里，在他们当中。”

凡我所吩咐你们的，都教导他们遵守。看哪，我就天天都与你们同在，直到这世代的终结。”

第三位天使吹响号角，就有一颗像火把一样燃烧着的大星，从天上坠落，落在江河的三分之一和众水的泉源上。这颗星的名字叫“苦艾”。于是众水的三分之一变为苦艾，许多人就因这水变苦而死去了。第四位天使吹响号角，太阳的三分之一、月亮的三分之一、星辰的三分之一都被击打，以致它们的三分之一变黑了；于是白昼的三分之一没有光，夜晚也是如此。

接着，天上出现了一个大征兆：有一个妇人身披太阳，脚踏月亮，头上戴着十二颗星的冠冕。

约翰是一盏燃烧发光的灯，你们情愿在他的光里快乐一时。
