迦巴勒的長者和智者在你中間修補裂縫；海上一切的船隻和水手都在你那裏進行貨物交易。「波斯人、路德人、弗人在你的軍營中作戰士；他們在你們中間懸掛盾牌和頭盔，彰顯你的尊榮。亞發人和你的軍隊都駐守在四圍的城牆上，你的城樓上也有勇士；他們懸掛盾牌，成全你的美麗。「他施因你多有財物，就作你的客商，他們帶着銀、鐵、錫、鉛前來換你的商品。雅完、土巴、米設都與你交易，以人口和銅器換你的貨物。陀迦瑪族用馬匹、戰馬和騾子換你的商品。底但人與你交易，許多海島成為你的碼頭；他們拿象牙、黑檀木與你交換。亞蘭因你貨品充裕，就作你的客商；他們用綠寶石、紫色布、刺繡、細麻布、珊瑚、紅寶石換你的商品。猶大和以色列地都與你交易；他們用米匿的小麥、餅、蜜、油、乳香換你的貨物。大馬士革也因你貨品充裕，多有各類財物，就帶來黑本酒和白羊毛與你交易。威但和從烏薩來的雅完人為了你的貨物，以加工的鐵、桂皮、香菖蒲換你的商品。底但以騎馬用的座墊毯子與你交換。阿拉伯和基達所有的領袖都作你的客商，用羔羊、公綿羊、公山羊與你交換。示巴和拉瑪的商人也來與你交易，他們用各類上好的香料、各類的寶石和黃金換你的商品。哈蘭、干尼、伊甸、示巴商人、亞述和基抹都與你交易。這些商人將美好的貨物包在藍色的繡花包袱內，又將華麗的衣服裝在香柏木的箱子裏，用繩索捆着，以此與你交易。他施的船隻為你運貨，你在海中滿載貨物，極其沉重。

燈臺的光在你中間絕對不再照耀了；新郎和新娘的聲音在你中間絕對聽不見了。你的商人原來是地上的顯要；萬國也被你的邪術迷惑了。

從前在民間有假先知起來；同樣，將來在你們中間也會有假教師，偷偷地引進使人滅亡的異端。他們甚至不認買他們的主人，自取迅速滅亡。許多人會隨從他們淫蕩的行為，以致真理之道因他們的緣故被毀謗。他們因貪婪，要用捏造的言語在你們身上取得利益。他們的懲罰，自古以來並不遲延；他們的滅亡也必迅速來到。

你所操勞的事都像這樣；從你幼年以來與你交易的都各奔己路，沒有一人來救你。

地上的商人也都為她哭泣悲哀，因為沒有人再買他們的貨物了；這貨物就是金、銀、寶石、珍珠、細麻布、絲綢、紫色和朱紅色衣料、各樣香木、各樣象牙的器皿、各樣極寶貴的木頭和銅、鐵、大理石的器皿，和肉桂、豆蔻、香料、香膏、乳香、酒、油、細麵、麥子、牛、羊、馬、馬車，以及奴隸、人口。「你所貪愛的果子離開了你；你一切的珍饈美味和華美的物件都從你那裏毀滅，絕對見不到了。」販賣這些貨物、藉着她發財的商人，因怕她的痛苦，就遠遠地站着哭泣悲哀，說：「禍哉，禍哉，這大城！她穿着細麻、紫色、朱紅色的衣服，用金子、寶石、珍珠為妝飾。一時之間，這麼多的財富就歸於無有了。」所有的船長和到處航海的，水手以及所有靠海為業的，都遠遠地站着，

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒吞滅我，壓碎我，使我成為空器皿。他如大魚將我吞下，以我的美物充滿他的肚腹，又把我趕出去。

你若與長官坐席，要留意在你面前的是誰。你若是胃口大的人，就當拿刀放在喉嚨上。不可貪戀長官的美食，因為那是欺哄人的食物。

素來吃美好食物的，如今遭遺棄在街上；素來穿着朱紅衣裳長大的，如今卻擁抱糞堆。

你們出去到底是要看甚麼？穿細軟衣服的人嗎？看哪，那穿華麗衣服、宴樂度日的人是在王宮裏。
