迦巴勒的老者和老手技師都在你中間做修補破縫的；一切海上的船隻和水手都在你中間經營交易的事。『波斯人路德人弗人在你軍隊中做你的戰士；他們在你中間懸掛着盾牌和頭盔，來彰顯你的壯麗。『亞瓦底人和你的軍隊都在你四圍牆上；你的譙樓上也有歌瑪底人、他們懸掛着擋牌在你四圍牆上，使你的美麗完全。『他施人因你有很多各種財物，就跟你交易，拿銀子、鐵、錫、鉛、來換你的貨物。雅完人土巴人米設人都和你作生意，拿人口銅器來換你的貨品。伯陀迦瑪人用馬、駿馬和騾子來換你的貨物。羅單人和你作生意，沿海許多地帶作你手下的交易；他們拿象牙跟黑檀木做代價來還你。以東人因你的製造品很多，就跟你交易，他們用紅玉、紫紅色布、繡貨、細麻布、珊瑚、和紅寶石、來換你的貨物。猶大和以色列地都和你作生意；他們用麥子、棗、早熟無花果、蜜、油、和止痛乳香、來換你的貨物。大馬色人因你的製造品很多，因你有很多各種財物，就拿黑本酒和白羊毛來跟你交易，拿烏薩出的酒來換你的貨物；拿鍛鐵、桂皮、菖蒲、來對換你的貨品。底但人拿鞍屜騎墊來和你作生意。亞拉伯人和基達所有的首領都作你手下的生意；他們帶羊羔、公綿羊、公山羊，來跟你交易。示巴和拉瑪作生意的人都和你作生意；他們拿各種上好的香料、各樣寶石、和黃金、來換你的貨物。哈蘭人、干尼人、伊甸人、亞述城人、基抹人、都和你作生意。這些商人用十全十美的衣料、藍紫色刺繡的袍子、彩色奪目的地毯，拿繩子綁得牢靠，就用這些東西來和你作生意。有他施的船隻做你的貨船，『你便在海中心載得很豐滿而沉重。

燈光決不能再照耀於你中間了；新郎新娘的聲音在你中間決不能再聽到了；因為你的商人曾經是地上的大人物；因為列國都曾在你的邪術中受了迷惑。』

但從前在民間竟有了假的神言人呢；照樣子、在你們中間也必有假的教師。這種人必私下引進使人滅亡的派別來，連買他們的主、他們也否認，自己引着迅速快到的滅亡。許多人一味隨從他們的邪蕩，真理的路必因他們的緣故而受謗讟。他們並且要本着貪婪的心、用揑造的話、在你們身上牟取財利。他們之定受處刑從太古以來就沒有懶於執行；他們之定必滅亡並沒有打盹過。

你所勞勞碌碌的、那從你幼年跟你交易的、對你都必這樣無用；他們都必飄流，各奔各方，沒有拯救你的！

地上的商人也為她哭泣哀慟，因為再沒有人買他們的貨物了：沒有人買他們的金銀寶石、珍珠、細麻布、紫布、絲綢、朱紅布等貨物、各樣香木、各樣象牙器皿、頂貴重木製的、銅鐵白石製的各樣器皿、肉桂、荳蔻、香料、香膏、乳香、酒、油、細麵、麥子、牲口、羊、馬、貨車、跟奴僕、就是人口——等貨色。『你心所貪愛的果子已離開了你，你的一切珍饈肥甘、華麗物件、都被毁滅、離開了你，人決不能再見得着了！』這些物件的商人、從這城得財富的、因怕她的苦痛、都必在遠處站着，哭泣哀慟說：『有禍啊！有禍啊！那大城！那披着細麻、紫袍和朱紅袍、用金子、寶石、珍珠、為妝飾的！一時之間這麼大的財富已變為荒涼了！』每一個船長、每一個航行往別處去的和水手們、以及凡作海業的、都在遠處站着，

『巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒吞滅了我，使我狼狽；使我成為空的器皿；他像大海獸將我吞下；他用我的美物去充滿他的肚子，又將我趕逐掉。』

你若跟統治者坐着用飯，要特別留意在你面前的是誰。你若是個能喫很多的人，你就得拿刀子橫在喉嚨上。不可貪好他的美味，因為那是矇人的食物。

那素來喫爽口物的、如今在街上淒涼涼；那素來在朱紅褥子養大的、如今抱着糞堆睡。

你們出去，到底要看甚麼呢？披着細軟衣裳的人麼？看哪，那穿華麗服裝、宴樂度日的、是在王宮裏。
