都因麗質豔姿的淫婦行邪術的老手淫行之繁多；她用她的淫行誘騙着列國，用她的邪術迷惑萬族之民。

那時我必使猶大城市中和耶路撒冷街上歡躍的聲音和喜樂的聲音、新郎的聲音和新婦的聲音、都止息住；因為這地必變為荒廢之處。

因為萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：看吧，你們還活着的日子、正在你們眼前、我就要使地方歡躍的聲音和喜樂的聲音、新郎的聲音和新婦的聲音、都止息住。

這些商人用十全十美的衣料、藍紫色刺繡的袍子、彩色奪目的地毯，拿繩子綁得牢靠，就用這些東西來和你作生意。有他施的船隻做你的貨船，『你便在海中心載得很豐滿而沉重。

牠又行大神迹，甚至在人面前叫火從天上降在地上。因了得權柄而在獸面前能行神迹、牠就迷惑住在地上的人，告訴住在地上的人要為那受刀擊傷還活着的獸造像。牠得了權柄、可以將生氣給獸的像，叫獸的像不但能說話，也能叫所有不拜獸像的人都被殺害。牠叫眾人、小的大的、富的窮的、自主的為奴的，都要給自己弄個印記、或在右手上、或在額上；

必不再有黑夜；他們也不需要燈光或日光，因為主上帝必做他們的光。他們必掌王權、世世無窮。

『惡人的燈何嘗熄滅呢？災難何嘗臨到他們？上帝何嘗氣忿忿把痛苦分給他們呢？

他們意向着他，因為他行邪術使他們驚奇、已有好久了。

惟獨那些膽怯的、沒有信心的、可憎的、殺人的、做男倡或嫖妓的、行邪術的、拜偶像的、和一切說假話的人，他們的分兒是在那有火跟硫磺燒着的湖裏：就是第二次的死。』

你的貨物由海上運出，你就使許多外族之民充足；由於你的資財和商品很多，你就使地上的君王富裕。如今你在深水中被海浪打破了；你的商品和你全體的眾人、在你中間的、都沉落下去了。

她的額上寫着名字、有象徵的奧祕：「大巴比倫、地上淫婦之母、可憎之物之母！」

於是大龍被摔下：大龍就是古蛇，叫魔鬼又叫撒但的，就是那迷惑普天下的。他被摔在地上，他的使者也同他被摔下。

地上的君王、素來同她行淫、荒淫無度的、看見她被焚燒的煙，就必為她哭泣捶胸。

因為壞人必沒有好結局；惡人的燈必熄滅。

哪知喪子寡居這兩件事、一眨眼之際、一日之間就臨到你了！正在你多行邪術、極力施符咒時，這兩件事就完完全全臨到你身上了！

地上的商人也為她哭泣哀慟，因為再沒有人買他們的貨物了：沒有人買他們的金銀寶石、珍珠、細麻布、紫布、絲綢、朱紅布等貨物、各樣香木、各樣象牙器皿、頂貴重木製的、銅鐵白石製的各樣器皿、肉桂、荳蔻、香料、香膏、乳香、酒、油、細麵、麥子、牲口、羊、馬、貨車、跟奴僕、就是人口——等貨色。『你心所貪愛的果子已離開了你，你的一切珍饈肥甘、華麗物件、都被毁滅、離開了你，人決不能再見得着了！』這些物件的商人、從這城得財富的、因怕她的苦痛、都必在遠處站着，哭泣哀慟說：『有禍啊！有禍啊！那大城！那披着細麻、紫袍和朱紅袍、用金子、寶石、珍珠、為妝飾的！一時之間這麼大的財富已變為荒涼了！』每一個船長、每一個航行往別處去的和水手們、以及凡作海業的、都在遠處站着，看見她被焚燒的煙就喊着說：『哪一個城能比得過那大城呢？』他們把塵土撒在頭上，哭泣哀慟喊着說：『有禍啊！有禍啊！那大城！那城裏頭凡有船在海中的、由她的珍寶而得財富的、有禍啊！一時之間她已變為荒涼了！

彈絃琴、作樂、吹簫笛、吹號筒者、的聲音在你中間決不能再聽到了；各手工業各手藝人在你中間決不能再看到了；石磨的聲音在你中間決不能再聽到了；

但義人的路徑就像發亮的光，越照越明，直到大白日。而惡人的路卻如幽暗；他們竟不知因何而跌倒。

約蘭一見耶戶、就說：『耶戶啊，平安麼？』耶戶說：『甚麼呀？你母親耶洗別的淫行和邪術這麼多、還有平安麼？』

外面呢、卻有那些犬類、那些行邪術的、做男倡或嫖妓的、做兇手的、拜偶像的、和一切喜愛虛謊、行虛謊的人。
