因為列國都被她荒淫的烈酒灌醉了。地上的君王曾經與她通姦，地上的商人也因她窮奢極侈的生活而發了財。」

泰爾曾是封王之地，她的商賈是王侯，她的商人名聞天下。但她如今的遭遇是誰定的？

這全是因為尼尼微像妖媚的妓女大肆淫亂，慣行邪術，以淫行誘惑列國，靠邪術欺騙各族。

我要使猶大各城和耶路撒冷街上的歡樂聲、新郎和新娘的歡笑聲全部消失，因為大地必荒涼。」

以色列的上帝——萬軍之耶和華說：「在這百姓有生之年，我要使這地方的歡樂聲和新郎新娘的歡笑聲從他們眼前消失。

他們把華麗衣服、藍布、刺繡和彩色地毯捆紮結實，拿來跟你交易。他施的船隻替你運貨，你在海上載滿沉甸甸的貨物。

又行大奇蹟，當眾叫火從天降到地上。牠在頭一隻怪獸面前獲准行奇蹟，欺騙了普世的人，並吩咐他們為受了刀傷卻仍然活著的頭一隻怪獸塑像。牠又獲准給怪獸的塑像生命氣息，使牠不但能說話，還能使所有不敬拜那像的人遭害。牠又強迫所有的人，不論老少、尊卑、貧富、自由人或奴隸，都在右手或額上接受印記。

再沒有黑夜，也不需要燈光和陽光，因為主上帝必作他們的光。他們要執掌王權直到永永遠遠。

「惡人的燈何曾熄滅？災難何曾臨到他們？上帝何曾發怒使他們受苦？

他們聽從他，因為他長期用邪術迷惑他們。

至於那些膽怯的、不信的、行為可憎的、殺人的、淫亂的、行邪術的、拜偶像的和所有說謊的，他們的結局是被丟進硫磺火湖裡，這就是第二次的死。」

你的貨物由海上運出，滿足了許多國家；你的資財和貨物使地上的君王富裕。然而，如今你在汪洋中被海浪擊碎，你的貨物和人民都一同沉沒了。

在她額上還寫了一個神秘的名號：「大巴比倫——地上淫婦及可憎事物之母」。

牠和牠的天使都一同從天上被摔到地上。巨龍就是那古蛇，又名魔鬼或撒旦，也就是那迷惑全人類的。

「那些曾與她通姦享樂的君王目睹焚燒她的煙，必為她哭泣哀號。

因為惡人毫無前途，惡人的燈終必熄滅。

誰知寡居、喪子二事卻忽然在同一天臨到你身上。即使你懂得許多邪術和符咒，也於事無補。

「地上的商人也為她哀傷，因為再也沒有人購買他們的貨物了。他們的金、銀、寶石、珍珠、細麻布、紫布、絲綢、朱紅布、各樣香木、象牙器具，貴重木材、銅、鐵、大理石製品，以及肉桂、荳蔻、香料、香膏、乳香、酒、油、細麵粉、小麥、牛、羊、馬、車、僕婢和人口都沒有人購買了。他們呼喊，『巴比倫啊！你貪愛的美物已離你而去了，一切珍饈百味、奢侈華麗的東西都消失殆盡，無影無蹤。』「靠販賣這些貨物給她而致富的商人對她所受的災禍充滿恐懼，就站在遠處為她哀傷哭號，說，『身穿紫色和朱紅色的細麻布衣服，以黃金、寶石、珍珠為裝飾的大城啊，真悲慘！真悲慘！因為頃刻間你這一切的繁華都化為烏有了。』所有船主、乘客、水手及靠海為生的人都遠遠地站著，看見燒她的煙，就說，『有哪一座城能與她相比呢？』他們又把塵土撒在頭上，哀傷哭泣，喊著說，『這大城啊，真悲慘！真悲慘！所有經營航運的都因她的奢華而發了財，可是頃刻間她卻淪為廢墟了！』

在你那裡，再也聽不見彈琴作樂、鳴笛吹號的聲音了，再也找不到能工巧匠了，再也聽不到推磨的聲音了，

義人的道路好像黎明的曙光，越照越亮，直到大放光明。惡人的道路一片幽暗，他們不知被何物絆倒。

約蘭問他：「耶戶，你為平安而來嗎？」耶戶答道：「國中到處都是你母親耶洗別的偶像和邪術，怎能平安呢？」

地上的君王與她行淫，地上其他人也因喝了她淫亂的酒而酩酊大醉。」

那些如同惡犬的敗類、行邪術的、淫亂的、殺人的、拜偶像的和一切喜歡弄虛作假的，都要被拒之城外。
