說，『身穿紫色和朱紅色的細麻布衣服，以黃金、寶石、珍珠為裝飾的大城啊，真悲慘！真悲慘！

說：‘有禍了！有禍了！這大城啊！就是一向穿著細麻布、紫色、朱紅色的衣服，佩戴著金子、寶石和珍珠裝飾的，

『有禍啊！有禍啊！那大城！那披着細麻、紫袍和朱紅袍、用金子、寶石、珍珠、為妝飾的！

說：「有禍了！有禍了！宏大的城，那曾身穿細麻、紫色、深紅色衣服，以金子、寶石、珍珠為裝飾的城啊！

曰、禍哉、禍哉、大邑乎、素衣枲布紫絳、飾以金珠寶石者乎、

大邑素衣細布紫絳、飾金玉珠璣、頃刻間、富有遂至貧乏、嗚呼哀哉、

曰、此大邑衣以枲布紫絳之衣、飾以金珠寶石、富有如此之大、頃刻間消滅、哀哉、哀哉、

「哀哉大邑、昔以純紵紫絳為衣、金玉珠璣為飾；

and cry out:“‘ Woe! Woe to you, great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls!

那女人穿着紫色和朱紅色的衣服，用金子、寶石、珍珠作妝飾，手拿着金杯，杯中盛滿了可憎之物和她淫亂的污穢。

「有一個財主穿着紫色袍和細麻布衣服，天天奢華宴樂。又有一個討飯的，名叫拉撒路，渾身長瘡，被人放在財主門口，想得財主桌子上掉下來的碎食充飢，甚至還有狗來舔他的瘡。後來那討飯的死了，被天使帶去放在亞伯拉罕的懷裏。財主也死了，並且埋葬了。他在陰間受苦，舉目遠遠地望見亞伯拉罕，又望見拉撒路在他懷裏，他就喊着說：『我祖亞伯拉罕哪，可憐我吧！請打發拉撒路來，用指頭尖蘸點水，涼涼我的舌頭，因為我在這火焰裏，極其痛苦。』亞伯拉罕說：『孩子啊，你該回想你生前享過福，拉撒路也同樣受過苦，如今他在這裏得安慰，你卻受痛苦。除此之外，在你們和我們之間，有深淵隔開，以致人要從這邊過到你們那邊是不可能的；要從那邊過到這邊也是不可能的。』財主說：『我祖啊，既然這樣，求你打發拉撒路到我父家去，因為我還有五個兄弟，他可以警告他們，免得他們也來到這痛苦的地方。』亞伯拉罕說：『他們有摩西和先知的話可以聽從。』他說：『不！我祖亞伯拉罕哪，假如有一個人從死人中到他們那裏去，他們一定會悔改。』亞伯拉罕對他說：『如果他們不聽從摩西和先知的話，就是有人從死人中復活，他們也不會信服的。』」

因怕她的痛苦，就遠遠地站着，說：「禍哉，禍哉，這大城！堅固的巴比倫城啊！一時之間，你的審判要來到了。」地上的商人也都為她哭泣悲哀，因為沒有人再買他們的貨物了；

於是他們把灰塵撒在頭上，哭泣悲哀地喊着說：「禍哉，禍哉，這大城！凡有船在海中的，都因她的珍寶成了富足。她在一時之間就成為荒蕪。
