曰、禍哉、禍哉、大邑乎、素衣枲布紫絳、飾以金珠寶石者乎、

大邑素衣細布紫絳、飾金玉珠璣、頃刻間、富有遂至貧乏、嗚呼哀哉、

曰、此大邑衣以枲布紫絳之衣、飾以金珠寶石、富有如此之大、頃刻間消滅、哀哉、哀哉、

婦人披紫着朱、飾金珠寶石、手執金樽、樽中滿貯淫亂眾穢、及無恥之事；

昔有一富翁、衣紫披紗、日事飲食宴樂；一丐名辣柴魯、瘡痍徧體、臥其門外、欲食富翁几下餘屑、而不可得、更有犬來舐瘡。無何、丐死、天神送諸亞伯漢懷中。富翁亦死、葬後慘受地獄之苦、偶舉目遙見亞伯漢、與其懷中之辣柴魯、乃竭聲而呼曰：「大父亞伯漢、其垂憐焉！予處燄中、苦不堪言、請發辣柴魯沾水指尖、以涼吾舌。」亞伯漢曰：「兒乎、當憶汝生前如何享樂、辣柴魯如何受苦、今則彼見慰、而汝受罪矣。況爾我之間、實隔巨淵、欲往不得、欲來無從。」曰「大父、既如此、請發辣柴魯至吾父家中、以其所見、為我五昆弟證之、庶勿來此苦痛之所。」亞伯漢曰：「若輩自有摩西及先知、可資遵循。」曰「大父亞伯漢乎！斯未必可也。若有人自死者中起而往告之、則若輩必幡然悔悟矣。」亞伯漢曰：「不聽摩西與先知、縱死者復活亦不可勸化矣。」

懼其禍之及身、乃遙立而言曰：「哀哉哀哉！大邑巴比倫也！巍巍王城胡為而至斯極耶！頃刻之間、爾竟遭受審判耶！」世之眾賈亦當哀哀而哭之；蓋誰復購其貨物乎？

乃以塵蒙首、號咷而大哭曰：「哀哉大邑、曩日舟人皆潤其豐饒而致富有；頃刻之間、乃遭斯極耶！」
