巴比倫素來是耶和華手中的金杯，使全地沉醉，列國喝了它的酒就顛狂。

說：「禍哉，禍哉，這大城！她穿着細麻、紫色、朱紅色的衣服，用金子、寶石、珍珠為妝飾。

這貨物就是金、銀、寶石、珍珠、細麻布、絲綢、紫色和朱紅色衣料、各樣香木、各樣象牙的器皿、各樣極寶貴的木頭和銅、鐵、大理石的器皿，

我必灑清水在你們身上，你們就潔淨了。我要潔淨你們，使你們脫離一切的污穢，棄絕一切的偶像。

所以你要對以色列家說，主耶和華如此說：你們仍要照你們祖先所做的玷污自己嗎？還要照他們可憎的事行淫嗎？

就是你藉你僕人眾先知所吩咐的，說：『你們要去得為業之地是污穢之地，因列邦民族的污穢和可憎的事，叫這地從這邊到那邊都充滿了污穢。

不要讓任何人用甚麼法子欺騙你們，因為那日子以前必有叛教的事，並有那不法的人，那沉淪之子出現。那抵擋者高抬自己超過一切稱為神明的，和一切受人敬拜的，甚至坐在神的殿裏，自稱為神。我還在你們那裏的時候曾把這些事告訴你們，你們不記得嗎？現在你們也知道那攔阻他的是甚麼，為要使他到了時機才出現。因為那不法的隱祕已經運作，只是現在有一個阻擋的，要等到那阻擋的被除去才會發作，那時這不法的人必出現，主耶穌要用口中的氣滅絕他，以自己來臨的光輝摧毀他。這不法的人來，是靠撒但的運作，行各樣的異能、神蹟和一切虛假的奇事，並且在那沉淪的人身上行各樣不義的詭詐，因為他們不領受愛真理的心，好讓他們得救。

另有第二位天使接着說：「傾覆了！那曾叫列國喝淫亂、烈怒之酒的大巴比倫傾覆了！」

瑪拿西行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，效法耶和華在以色列人面前趕出的列國那些可憎的事。

她的污穢是在下襬上；她未曾思想自己的結局，她的敗落令人驚詫，無人安慰她。「耶和華啊，求你看顧我的苦難，因為仇敵強大。」

我發現以色列，如在曠野的葡萄；我看見你們的祖先，如春季無花果樹上初熟的果子。他們卻來到巴力‧毗珥，獻上自己做羞恥的事，成為可憎惡的，與他們所愛的一樣。

以敬奉堡壘的神明取而代之，用金、銀、寶石和珍寶敬奉他祖宗所不認識的神明。

他的判斷又真實又公義；因他判斷了那大淫婦，她用淫行敗壞了世界。神為他的僕人伸冤，向淫婦討流僕人血的罪。」

「至於那些宰牛，殺人，獻羔羊，打斷狗頸項，獻豬血為供物，燒乳香，稱頌偶像的，他們選擇自己的道路，心裏喜愛可憎惡的事；

雖然我想潔淨你污穢的淫行，你卻不潔淨，你的污穢再也不能潔淨，直等我止息了向你發的憤怒。

她怎樣待人，也要怎樣待她，按她所行的加倍地報應她；用她調酒的杯加倍調給她喝。她怎樣榮耀自己，怎樣奢華，也要使她照樣痛苦悲哀。因她心裏說：『我坐了皇后的位，並不是寡婦，絕不至於悲哀。』

國中也有男的廟妓。他們效法耶和華在以色列人面前所趕出的外邦人，行一切可憎惡的事。

你要把空鍋放在炭火上，將鍋燒熱，把銅燒紅，鎔化其中的污穢，除淨其上的銹。

你們也見過他們的可憎之物，他們木、石、金、銀的偶像。
