Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying,“ Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”

Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.

Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete.

And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.But the angel said to me,“ Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.“ Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.“ The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast.These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”Then he said to me,“ The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.

How the faithful city has become a harlot! It was full of justice; Righteousness lodged in it, But now murderers.

and saying,‘ Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls!For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.’ Every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distanceand cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying,‘ What is like this great city?’“ They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, and saying,‘ Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! For in one hour she is made desolate.’

And out of the temple came the seven angels having the seven plagues, clothed in pure bright linen, and having their chests girded with golden bands.Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever.

“ For of old I have broken your yoke and burst your bonds; And you said,‘ I will not transgress,’ When on every high hill and under every green tree You lay down, playing the harlot.

“ But come here, You sons of the sorceress, You offspring of the adulterer and the harlot!

Because of the multitude of harlotries of the seductive harlot, The mistress of sorceries, Who sells nations through her harlotries, And families through her sorceries.“ Behold, I am against you,” says the Lord of hosts;“ I will lift your skirts over your face, I will show the nations your nakedness, And the kingdoms your shame.

And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.

And they said to one another,“ Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying,“ Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,
