我立刻就在靈境中；見有個寶座安置在天上，寶座上有一位坐着的。那坐着的看來彷彿碧玉和肉紅玉髓；又有虹圍着寶座，看來仿彿綠寶石。寶座周圍有二十四個座位；有二十四位長老坐在座位上；身披白衣，頭戴金華冠。有閃電、響聲、雷轟、從寶座間發出；在寶座前點𤏲七枝火把，就是上帝之七靈。寶座前好像玻璃海，彷彿水晶一般。寶座四圍、在寶座每一面當中、有一隻活物，四面共四隻，前後滿有眼睛。第一隻活物彷彿獅子，第二隻活物彷彿牛犢，第三隻活物有臉面像人的臉面，第四隻活物彷彿飛着的鷹。這四隻活物之中，每一隻各有六個翅膀，遍體內外都滿有眼睛。他們沒有歇息、晝夜唱着說：『聖哉！聖哉！聖哉！主上帝，全能者，昔在、今在、以後永在的！』每逢那些活物將榮耀尊貴感謝獻與那坐寶座上、永遠活着、世世無窮的、那時候，二十四位長老總俯伏在坐寶座者面前，敬拜那永遠活着、世世無窮的，總把他們的華冠丟在寶座前，說：『我們的主，我們的上帝，你是配得榮耀尊貴權能的；因為你創造了萬有；憑着你的旨意、萬有存在着，萬有被創造。』

你們要唱新的歌頌讚永恆主；因為他顯了奇妙的作為；他的右手和聖臂為他取得了勝利。

你們要唱新的歌頌讚永恆主；全地都要歌頌永恆主；

上帝啊，我要唱新的歌頌讚你，用十絃瑟作樂讚揚你，

有耳的應當聽聖靈向眾教會所說的話！得勝的、我必將隱藏的嗎哪賜給他，也必賜給他一塊白石子；石子上寫着新的名，除了領受者之外、沒有人認識的。」

要唱新的歌頌讚他，彈得美妙，加上歡呼。

他將新的歌賜與我口中，就是頌讚我們之上帝的歌；許多人看見，必起了敬畏的心，來倚靠永恆主。

他們直唱着上帝僕人摩西的歌和羔羊的歌，說：『主上帝，全能者啊，你的作為大哉！奇哉！萬世之王啊，你的道路公義啊！真實啊！

當那些時候，耶穌應時地說：『父啊，天地的主啊，我稱謝你，因為你將這些事向智慧通達的人隱藏起來，向嬰孩卻啓示了。是的，父啊，在你面前，你的美意就是如此。一切都由我父交付了我；除了父，沒有一個認識子；除了子和子所願意啓示的，也沒有一個認識父。

永恆主跟敬畏他的人親密；他使他們認識他的約。

因為十字架之道、在滅亡着的人看是愚拙，在我們得救着的人看、卻是上帝的能力。

不過屬血氣的人不接受上帝之靈的事；這些事在他看、簡直是愚拙；他也不能知道，因為這是用屬靈的方法來審察的。
