The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.

“那王必任意而行，自高自大，超過所有的神，又說一些怪誕的話攻擊萬神之神。他必行事順利，直到神的忿怒完畢；因為所定的事必會實現。

他必說話，敵擋至高者；他必折磨至高者的聖民，又想改變節期和律法；聖民必交在他的手中，一載、二載、半載（“一載、二載、半載”或譯：“一個時期、多個時期、半個時期”）。

婦人就逃到曠野去了，那裡有神為她預備的地方。她在那裡得供養一千二百六十天。

“那時，因那小角說誇大話的聲音，我繼續觀看，看見那獸被殺，屍體被毀，扔在烈火中。

於是有大鷹的兩個翅膀賜給了那婦人，使她可以飛到曠野，到自己的地方，在那裡得供養一年兩年半年，離開那蛇的面。

但聖所外面的院子，不要量它，因為它已經給了外族人，他們要踐踏聖城四十二個月。我要賜能力給我那兩個穿著麻衣的見證人，他們要傳道一千二百六十天。”

他抵擋神，抬舉自己，高過一切稱為神或受人敬拜的，甚至坐在神的殿中，自稱為神。

我又想知道有關牠頭上的十角，和那另長出來的小角，以及那三個在這小角前面倒下的角的實情。這小角有眼，有說誇大話的嘴；牠的形狀比牠的同類更威猛。

他們作完了見證的時候，那從無底坑上來的獸要跟他們作戰，勝過他們，把他們殺死。

牠得了允許能跟聖徒作戰，並且能勝過他們；又有權柄給了牠，可以管轄各支派、各民族、各方言、各邦國。
