They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

They had victory over him by the blood the Lamb spilled for them. They had victory over him by speaking the truth about Jesus to others. They were willing to risk their lives, even if it led to death.

For although we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh,since the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish argumentsand every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death— that is, the devil—and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.

Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies.Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us.Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?As it is written: Because of you we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

But I consider my life of no value to myself; my purpose is to finish my course and the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of God’s grace.

“ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters— yes, and even his own life— he cannot be my disciple.

“ In the same way, the one who conquers will be dressed in white clothes, and I will never erase his name from the book of life but will acknowledge his name before my Father and before his angels.

For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest,and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace.In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit— which is the word of God.Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing.

Then I saw thrones, and people seated on them who were given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and who had not accepted the mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

“ The one who conquers I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never go out again. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God— the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God— and my new name.

You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Other people were tortured, not accepting release, so that they might gain a better resurrection.Others experienced mockings and scourgings, as well as bonds and imprisonment.They were stoned, they were sawed in two, they died by the sword, they wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins, destitute, afflicted, and mistreated.The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and on mountains, hiding in caves and holes in the ground.

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the word of God and the testimony they had given.

And they cried out in a loud voice: Salvation belongs to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!All the angels stood around the throne, and along with the elders and the four living creatures they fell facedown before the throne and worshiped God,saying, Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength be to our God forever and ever. Amen.Then one of the elders asked me,“ Who are these people in white robes, and where did they come from?”I said to him,“ Sir, you know.” Then he told me: These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will experience affliction for ten days. Be faithful to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.“ Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will never be harmed by the second death.

Then I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me,“ Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers and sisters who hold firmly to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

“ Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

I also saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who had won the victory over the beast, its image, and the number of its name, were standing on the sea of glass with harps from God.They sang the song of God’s servant Moses and the song of the Lamb: Great and awe-inspiring are your works, Lord God, the Almighty; just and true are your ways, King of the nations.

I, John, your brother and partner in the affliction, kingdom, and endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

When they finish their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war on them, conquer them, and kill them.

Then I looked, and there was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.I heard a sound from heaven like the sound of cascading waters and like the rumbling of loud thunder. The sound I heard was like harpists playing on their harps.They sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders, but no one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women, since they remained virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed from humanity as the firstfruits for God and the Lamb.

So the dragon was furious with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring— those who keep the commands of God and hold firmly to the testimony about Jesus.

“ Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name is inscribed that no one knows except the one who receives it.

Then Paul replied,“ What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
