所以，你們要彼此認罪，互相代求，使你們得醫治。義人祈禱所發的力量是大有功效的。以利亞與我們是同樣性情的人，他懇切地祈求不要下雨，地上就三年六個月沒有下雨。他又禱告，天就降下雨來，地就有了出產。

他差遣他的僕人摩西和他所揀選的亞倫，在敵人中間顯他的神蹟，在含地顯他的奇事。他差遣黑暗，就有黑暗；他們沒有違背他的話。他使埃及的水變為血，令他們的魚死了。在他們的地上，青蛙多多滋生，王宮的內室也是如此。他一吩咐，蒼蠅就成羣飛來，並有蚊子進入他們四境。他給他們降下冰雹為雨，在他們的地上降下火焰。他擊打他們的葡萄樹和無花果樹，毀壞他們境內的樹木。他一吩咐，就有蝗蟲蝻子上來，不計其數，吃光他們地上各樣的菜蔬，吞盡他們田地的出產。他又擊殺他們國內所有的長子，就是他們強壯時頭生的。

耶和華的話又臨到我，說：「你，人子啊，主耶和華對以色列地如此說：結局，結局臨到了地的四境！現在你的結局已經來臨；我要使我的怒氣臨到你，也要按你的行為審判你，照你所做一切可憎的事懲罰你。我的眼必不顧惜你，也不可憐你，卻要按你所做的報應你，照你們中間可憎的事懲罰你；你就知道我是耶和華。「主耶和華如此說：災難，惟一的災難，看哪，臨近了！結局到了，結局到了，它要醒起來攻擊你。看哪，它已來到！境內的居民哪，厄運臨到你；時候到了，日子近了，有鬧鬨，但不是山上歡呼的聲音。我快要將我的憤怒傾倒在你身上，向你發盡我的怒氣，按你的行為審判你，照你所做一切可憎的事懲罰你。我的眼必不顧惜你，也不可憐你，必按你所做的報應你，照你中間可憎的事懲罰你；你就知道擊打你的是我－耶和華。「看哪，那日子！看哪，已來到！厄運已經發生！杖已開花，驕傲已發芽。殘暴興起，成了罰惡的杖。他們將一無所有，他們的富足、他們的財寶都不復存在；他們中間也不再有尊榮。時候到了，日子近了，買主不可歡喜，賣主也不用愁煩，因為烈怒已經臨到他們眾人身上。
