Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,“ Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks!“ Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness.“ There your fathers tested me and tried me, and they saw my works for forty years.“ Therefore, I became provoked at that generation and said,‘ Their hearts are always wandering and they have not known my ways.’“ As I swore in my anger,‘ They will never enter my rest!’”

So God again ordains a certain day,“ Today,” speaking through David after so long a time, as in the words quoted before,“ O, that today you would listen as he speaks! Do not harden your hearts.”

As it says,“ Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks! Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

Listen! I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come into his home and share a meal with him, and he with me.

For you were going astray like sheep but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.

For God, our God, is our defender forever! He guides us!

Why, O God, have you permanently rejected us? Why does your anger burn against the sheep of your pasture?

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

Pay attention and come to me! Listen, so you can live! Then I will make an unconditional covenantal promise to you, just like the reliable covenantal promises I made to David.

While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said,“ This is my one dear Son, in whom I take great delight. Listen to him!”

Watch out for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.

Listen, for I will speak excellent things, and my lips will utter what is right.

The doorkeeper opens the door for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.When he has brought all his own sheep out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they recognize his voice.

“ I, the LORD, am your God, who brought you from the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.

Then we, your people, the sheep of your pasture, will continually thank you. We will tell coming generations of your praiseworthy acts.O shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who lead Joseph like a flock of sheep! You who sit enthroned above the winged angels, reveal your splendor!

Look, the sovereign LORD comes as a victorious warrior; his military power establishes his rule. Look, his reward is with him; his prize goes before him.Like a shepherd he tends his flock; he gathers up the lambs with his arm; he carries them close to his heart; he leads the ewes along.

The earth yields its crops. May God, our God, bless us!

“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”For he is the one about whom Isaiah the prophet had spoken:“ The voice of one shouting in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way for the Lord, make his paths straight.’”

“ I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me–just as the Father knows me and I know the Father– and I lay down my life for the sheep.I have other sheep that do not come from this sheepfold. I must bring them too, and they will listen to my voice, so that there will be one flock and one shepherd.

Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us and we belong to him; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Our God is in heaven! He does whatever he pleases!

“ But I will make a new covenant with the whole nation of Israel after I plant them back in the land,” says the LORD.“ I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts and minds. I will be their God and they will be my people.

The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Then they will know that I, the LORD their God, am with them, and that they are my people, the house of Israel, declares the sovereign LORD.And you, my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are my people, and I am your God, declares the sovereign LORD.’”

But exhort one another each day, as long as it is called“ Today,” that none of you may become hardened by sin’s deception.

But as it is, they aspire to a better land, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
