Therefore I was provoked to anger with that generation and said,“ They always go astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways.”So I swore in my anger,“ They will not enter my rest.”

he again specifies a certain day— today. He specified this speaking through David after such a long time: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.

As it is said: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.

See! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

For you were like sheep going astray, but you have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

“ This God, our God forever and ever— he will always lead us.”

Why have you rejected us forever, God? Why does your anger burn against the sheep of your pasture?

The LORD is my shepherd; I have what I need.

Pay attention and come to me; listen, so that you will live. I will make a permanent covenant with you on the basis of the faithful kindnesses of David.

While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said,“ This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased. Listen to him!”

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.

Listen, for I speak of noble things, and what my lips say is right.

The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.When he has brought all his own outside, he goes ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they know his voice.

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.

Then we, your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever; we will declare your praise to generation after generation.Listen, Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock; you who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine

See, the Lord GOD comes with strength, and his power establishes his rule. His wages are with him, and his reward accompanies him.He protects his flock like a shepherd; he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them in the fold of his garment. He gently leads those that are nursing.

The earth has produced its harvest; God, our God, blesses us.

and saying,“ Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near!”For he is the one spoken of through the prophet Isaiah, who said: A voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way for the Lord; make his paths straight!

“ I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me,just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.But I have other sheep that are not from this sheep pen; I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. Then there will be one flock, one shepherd.

Acknowledge that the LORD is God. He made us, and we are his— his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Our God is in heaven and does whatever he pleases.

“ Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days”— the LORD’s declaration.“ I will put my teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Then they will know that I, the LORD their God, am with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are my people. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.You are my flock, the human flock of my pasture, and I am your God. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.’”

But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.

But they now desire a better place— a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
