But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.

Arise, O Judge of the earth. Give the proud what they deserve.How long, O Lord? How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat?

Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.”

For look— the Judge is standing at the door!For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy.

The righteous keep moving forward, and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger.

I will take revenge; I will pay them back. In due time their feet will slip. Their day of disaster will arrive, and their destiny will overtake them.’“ Indeed, the Lord will give justice to his people, and he will change his mind about his servants, when he sees their strength is gone and no one is left, slave or free.

He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will bring justice to all who have been wronged.

The wicked will not rule the land of the godly, for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong.O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you.But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord. Take them away with those who do evil. May Israel have peace!

Commit everything you do to the Lord.
