Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in[ their] heart; and they have not known my ways.So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
But with whom was he grieved forty years?[ was it] not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left[ us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard[ it].
Consume[ them] in wrath, consume[ them], that they[ may] not[ be]: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?
And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear,[ so is] thy wrath.
And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale[ that is told].
